Improving Skills of Bumdes Managers, IPB Holds Training Course

Two centers under the Institute for Research and Community Service of IPB University (LPPM-IPB), namely the Center for Human Resource Development (P2SDM) and the Study Center for Regional Planning and Development (P4W) worked together to improve the understanding and skills of village-owned business entity (Bumdes) managers by conducting a training course, 29-30/4 in Bogor.

Head of LPPM-IPB, Dr. Aji Hermawan in his opening remarks said that village is the future of Indonesia because it answers the challenges of the future. There are four things needed to make an advanced and productive village, namely: 1) great human resources as change makers, 2) a powerful Bumdes organization and organization to grow, 3) the importance of network capacity to markets, local governments and the private sectors, and 4) change makers in organizational development.

Regarding the training course for the Bumdes managers, the P2BDM Secretary, Warcito, SP. MM, said that this event was held to improve the understanding and skills of Bumdes managers in managing productive businesses.

Participants consisted of 12 people from seven villages, namely Bantarjati, Linggarmukti, Lulut, Klapanunggal, Kembang Kuning, Nambo, Pandansari, and Wiratani Mandiri Nusantara Cooperative. Researchers, business practitioners and academicians from P2SDM and P4W were invited as the resource persons of this activity.

Wawan Gunawan, one of the participants from Kembang Kuning Village said that he was interested in following the training course because he wanted to further understand how to manage Bumdes. He has developed a Cardboard Village “production of plain packaging cardboard” located in Kampung Tegal in RT 20 RW 06. Moreover, in Kembang Kuning Village, there are catfish cultivation that has been developed by the Posdaya group, and waste management system that has succeeded in empowering housewives. Wawan hoped, “In addition to the training course for Bumdes managers, I would also like to have a training activity on the Bumdes finance and administration in the future.” (Wal/ris/zsp)
