FKH IPB Started Implementing Education 4.0

Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH) IPB University started to respond to the people’s demand in the era of Industrial Revolution 4.0 by developing an integrated and innovative veterinary medicine curriculum and learning method. This was revealed in the launching of Veterinary Clinic and Diagnostic Laboratory in Taman Kencana, Bogor and the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between IPB and PT. Berkah Digital Semesta in Taman Kencana IPB Campus, Bogor (24/3).

“If IPB does not adapt to changes in the Industrial Revolution 4.0 era, then IPB will create yesterday’s people, despite educating tomorrow’s people. For this reason, IPB changed the curriculum which was packed with a technical and hard skill to a curriculum that had more soft skills. The presence of lecturers will also transform towards heutagogy. Interaction uses technology and applies blended learning. Starting this year, there are 134 courses which we can start blended learning to, “said the Vice Rector for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Drajat Martianto in his speech.

According to him, IPB’s curriculum in 2020 will truly produce graduates who are ready to face the challenges ahead. IPB wants to prepare students who want to become learners. “They do not have to have a GPA of 4.00 or graduate in 4 years exactly, but they have to be powerful and agile learners,” he added.

Meanwhile, Dean of FKB IPB, Prof. drh. Srihadi Agung Priyono, Ph.D., PAVet (K) said that currently FKH and Teaching Animal Hospital (RSHP) of IPB have developed three types of innovative new animal health services.

The first service is the Cardiology Center Services (CCS). CCS is the first center for animal heart referral services in Indonesia that is supported by the latest diagnostic equipment such as 3-dimensional color ultrasound, EKG and digital-based radiographs. The heart service also recommends various treatment techniques as well as comprehensive diet management advice.

The second service is Medic Rehabilitation Services, a rehabilitation service center for animals experiencing motor and neurological disorders. The combination of rehabilitation techniques from the west combined with the east is applied to this service center.

The third service, Veterinary Clinic and Diagnostic Laboratory, Taman Kencana is a satellite of RSHP FKH IPB. Taman Kencana Clinic is equipped with various laboratory facilities and complete supporting diagnostic equipment so that it is expected to become a referral clinic.

“RSHP FKH IPB also implements an Android-based medical business app (paw.id) that is real-time, paperless, transparent and accurate. The implementation of this application aims to improve the quality of administrative management of medical records and hospital patient services. Monitoring patient service activities and the learning process of hospital-based co-student students is done through monitoring of Android-based Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV). This monitoring aims to make the learning process run well while ensuring the quality of patient medical services, “he said.

In addition, in order to encourage the development and utilization of science and technology in the field of veterinary medicine, FKH IPB applies educational technology through Android-based applications (VETZ). These activities include online tutoring for FKH students and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) or the development of online higher education for practicing veterinarians.

“This is a strategic and innovative step that has been carried out by FKH IPB in the development of hospital-based veterinary education and improving the quality of service for the RSHP FKH IPB as a form of integration and at the same time implementing the IPB 4.0 FKH curriculum,” he said.

On this occasion, Head of RSHP FKH IPB, Prof. Deni Noviana delivered the Inahex 2019 Event plan. The Indonesia Animal Hospital and Clinic Expo (Inahex) will be held at the end of July to August 2019. Inahex 2019 will raise the theme of how the role of veterinarians in the future and how to build a better networking system.

“The theme will be summarized into several activities. This Inahex 2019 will facilitate the latest information in the world of veterinary medicine which will present competent world speakers, the latest diagnostic techniques, socialization of animal clinic standards and rules and services. In addition, there are also activities related to Professional Development and Expo on 1-2 August 2019, “he said.
