Botany Mart Holds Farmer Expo Every Weekend
IPB University, through Botany Mart, held the Grand Opening of Expo Tani, in Dramaga (6/4). Botany Mart is a business unit under the coordination of the Directorate of Business and Entrepreneurship Development of IPB located on Jalan Raya Dramaga, Bogor. Botany Mart is one place for IPB to introduce and market IPB innovative products to the public.
In his opening remarks, Vice Chancellor for Innovation, Business and Entrepreneurship, Prof. Erika Budiarti Laconi said that IPB will continue to disseminate its innovative products.
“Every Saturday and Sunday there will be an Expo Farmer in collaboration with the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) and various faculties in IPB. We open the participation of all alumni, communities and students to be able to contribute. Once opened, we raise the flag of IPB, meaning we want to continue to work and do the best for the people of Bogor, we also educate our children to love agriculture, we open the door for mothers who have educational institutions both kindergarten, elementary, junior high school and even high school to come to the botanical mart to be given education, “said Prof. Erika.
This Farm Expo was designed as a weekly routine program at the Botany Mart. Every Saturday and Sunday, the Farm Expo is held to socialize to the Bogor community the presence of the Botany Mart. Here, the public can find out various IPB innovation products. In addition, the community can also shop for various superior fruit seeds, some of which are certified seeds.
Lita Herlinawati, the Botany Mart Manager, said that there were various products provided by the Botany Mart, ranging from ornamental plants, fruit seeds and so on. At Botany Mart, there are also other units such as restaurants and retail, where you can find innovative products from lecturers, students and IPB residents.
“From the results of our sales evaluation, superior fruit seeds that sell well are lime, then durian. We have a variety of durian collections ranging from montong, otong, king civet, sun, bawor, black thorns, rainbow, even B26 from Malaysia. We prepare small seeds, three-legged seeds and also two-year-old seeds so that the time is shortened so that consumers can immediately enjoy the fruit. We also have medicinal plants such as bidara, olives, spices, etc. Botany Mart is open from 08.00 WIB until at 9:00 p.m. WIB, the facilities at the Botany Mart are also quite complete, besides retail, there are also animal parks, resting gazebos and floating mosques, “he said.
According to him, visitors can bring their families to Botany Mart because in addition to finding seeds, families can also be recreational. At the weekend we hold a bazaar and there are special weekend menus offered by restaurants at the Botany Mart.
“Our flagship menu is the Fishing Mania Package, where before eating fish, consumers can fish themselves in our pool so there is a recreational experience too. In the future, people will not be confused anymore looking for IPB’s innovative products. Such as there are guests, acquaintances or families from outside Bogor, can visit and get IPB innovation products at the Botany Mart.
