Prof. Dodi Nandika, Professor of Faculty of Forestry, IPB University (IPB) has officially been elected as the Head of IPB Academic Senate (SA) for 2019-2024 period. Prof. Dodi managed to attain most of the votes among the candidates, specifically 35 votes out of 62 voters. The election was conducted in Senate Council Room, IPB Dramaga Campus, Bogor (28/2).

The SA election process was done in a plenary meeting through discussion to reach a consensus. If the discussion doesn’t reach a consensus, the election would be done with voting.

The elected Head of SA, Prof. Dodi Nandika said that IPB SA in the near future will face hard challenges because there are changes happening rapidly with the Industrial Revolutions 4.0 and 5.0 and in science and technology (Iptek), management, and academic policies. There are many things to be fixed, so SA will initially give a solution regarding management system, Iptek and academic policies. SA is certain that the collaboration between SA and Rector will run smoothly.

According to him, SA IPB will keep on giving suggestions and directions to strengthen academic excellence in IPB, especially in supporting Rector’s ideas to make IPB as a transdisciplinary study center, be in on institute, faculty, or department levels. He emphasized that SA will give support, additions, and enrichment in Agromaritim 4.0 concept, so that IPB will be the vanguard in developing agromaritim 4.0 concept in Indonesia, because IPB deserves to be at the front.

“SA has two expectations, which are accountability improvement and transparency. With the support for IPB academicians  who share the same commitment, spirit, dedication, and aspirations, IPB will surely prevail and keeps on advancing,” he said.

IPB Rector, Dr. Arif Satria, in that occasion, really appreciate the performance of SA IPB in 2014-2019 period. IPB really expresses its gratitude to previous SA IPB officials. As the Head of SA IPB, Prof. Tridoyo Kusumastanto and Secretary of SA IPB, Dr. Sudrajat have given a notable contribution that should be respected,” said the Rector.

“Congratulations for the new SA officials, especially for the Head of SA for 2019-2024 period, Prof. Dodi Nandika. For the new Head of SA and the members who will start working soon and ready to receive tha baton, currently IPB is facing against the atmosphere of massive and real changes with the notion of Industrial Revolution 4.0 and the rumor of Industrial Revolution 5.0. SA, in the near future, will have challenging duties to provide norms, directions, and academic policies which are conducive for IPB to strive and respond those issues. IPB hopes SA can produce even better academic policies which are suitable to respond to future challenges,” he said.

The Head of IPB SA for 2014-2019 period, Prof. Tridoyo Kusumastanto also congratulated the new Head of IPB SA, Prof. Dodi Nandika. He said that this election has a purpose to maintain IPB tradition and develop it to be even better by ensuring transparent regeneration.

“The role of higher education institutions is to build civilization, shown by the behavior of the academicians and teaching staffs. The wider role of higher education institutions is to solve national issues. The point is, IPB SA has to lead to cope against the massive change, alongside Rector, Trustee Assembly (MWA), and Board of Professors (DGB) to be a synergy to develop IPB,” he said. (Ard)
