Golden Bogor Vocational School Students Learn Archives at the Archive Unit of IPB

Approximately 80 students from the Golden Bogor Vocational School (SMK) Office Administration Department visited the Archive Unit IPB University, Campus of IPB Dramaga, Bogor (21/2). This visit aims to get to know more about filing as a continuation of the basic knowledge of archives that they get in school.

The group was received by the Head of Archive Unit of IPB, Drs. B. Mustafa, M. Lib. In his remarks, Drs. Mustafa explained about the profile of the Archive Unit of IPB and expressed the importance of the introduction of archives among students so that archival problems could be recognized early.

“Awareness of the importance of archives can be embedded in the minds of the young generation of the nation. Therefore the Conscious National Movement for Ordering Archives needs to be launched at school. We annually hold archival quiz competitions, archival seminars and workshops for students and teachers, school records managers and school administration employees, “he said.

On this occasion, Ir. Setyo Edy Susanto, M.Pd as Head of Archives and Guidance Services for Archives, Archive Unit of IPB explains about static, dynamic, active and active archives. Besides that, Ir. Hirra Nurlaeni, MM as Head of Sub Division of Acquisition and Processing of Archives explained about the acquisition and processing of archives.

The delegation also had the opportunity to go around visiting the archive rooms such as the central file, record center, textual archive depot, cartographic archive depot, audio visual archive depot, processing room, preservation room, and service room.

“It is expected that students and teachers who take part in this activity can get a comprehensive picture of archiving,” he said. (** / Zul)
