During this ‘Rabuan’, IPB Rector, Dr. Arif Satria talked about IPB’s achievements in 2018 and plans for 2019.
IPB was known as the most prospective contributor of innovations in Indonesia, according to Business Innovation Center (BIC) from 2008-2018 with a total of 458 innovations. Along 2018 and early 2019, IPB has made many achievements to be proud of, on institution, lecturers, students, or education staffs levels.
“IPB is included in Top 100 Higher Education Institutions of the world, according to QS World University Ranking by Subject Agriculture and Forestry, Top 40 The Most Sustainable University in the World and Second Place in Indonesia according to Green Metric at the end of 2018, Top 3 in PTN-BH Social Media Category in Anugerah Humas PTN and LLDikti 2018 by Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti) in early 2019, Technology Business Incubator for Inncubie IPB in Incubating Starting Companies Based on Incubator Tenant Technology,” he said.
IPB also snatched the Most Informative State University award during ‘Anugerah Keterbukaan Informasi Publik 2018’ from Central Information Commission. This is the result of IPB’s commitment to always give service to the public for accessing information about IPB, which can be done with mobile phone-based applications, for instance.
“The applications include IPB Repository, IPB Today, IPB Mobile for Student, IPB Mobile for Lecturer, IPB Mobile for Staff, and now IPB Mobile for Parent. The features available for IPB Mobile for Parent, such as students’ transcript, lecture schedule, presence in lectures and practical, and tuition payment transcript per semester. IPB is also sitting at the third place of Non-Vocational State University Clustering, awarded by Kemenristekdikti and national first place for ‘Anugerah Widyapadhi’ as the most innovative campus. These are the awards for IPB’s attempts to develop and commercialization innovations,” he added.
From those achievements, in the future IPB will further emphasize on its role in national development through the launching of Agro-Maritim 4.0 concept to respond the challenge of achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Industrial Revolution 4.0 in agriculture sector. Agro-Maritim 4.0 is present to solve the problems of dysconnectivity of agro-maritime development, environment and natural resources degradation, low public welfare, food vulnerability, low agro-maritime sector contribution to economic development, and inequal development of regions in Indonesia.
Agro-Maritim 4.0 integrates management of land and sea inclusively and involves complex social, economic, and ecological systems, with the main approach of transdisciplinary, ecoregion-connectivity, integrated-participatory.
“Agro-Maritim 4.0 emphasizes that all disciplines have equally important roles in solving complex Agro-Maritime issues. “Creating Value” as the main characteristic of Agro-Maritim 4.0 technology doesn’t only involve one discipline. An IT expert won’t automatically have the ability to understand issues about agro-maritime technology, social, and economy, so collaboration between disciplines become a prerequisite,” he added.
During that occasion there was also a signing of IPB 2019 Performance Contract, launching of Dupak Online, Eduroam, and IPB Card. Besides that, there was also an announcement of 2018 Website Competition and Clean Toilet Contest. This ‘Rabuan Bersama’ was guided by Prof. Dr. Ir.
