IPB Teamed Up with Universiti Malaysia Perlis to Hold International Conference

Developments in agriculture require innovation in maximizing the production system to meet World’s food needs which undoubtedly requires the presence of technology to support the era of modern agriculture in becoming both efficient and effective. For this reason, Department of Mechanical & Biosystem Engineering, Faculty of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) & Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) held an international conference entitled “The 1st International Conference on Mechanical, Electronics and Bio-system Engineering” (MEBSE 2018) at IPB Darmaga Campus, Bogor on December 15th, 2018. During this conference, two universities shared their research results in total of 56 papers in fields of mechatronic, electronic and bio-system engineering. Based on the conference outcome, there will be more opportunities to conduct more in-depth joint research in the future. IPB Department Head of Mechanical & Biosystem Engineering—Dr. Ir. Sutrisno declared that this conference is the first international conference held with a simple and low-cost concept, however still maintaining the scientific values and ethics so that it is substantially equivalent to other conferences. This concept received support from IPB Rector—Dr. Arif Satria who hopes this generated atmosphere can be vehicle for students and lecturers to be able to have a taste of international experience with an affordable cost. IPB Vice Rector for Cooperation and Information Systems—Prof. Dr. Ir. Dodik R. Nurochmat conveyed the same thing during his opening remarks, that scientific activities should be executed within campus environment to bring a better academic atmosphere to life. MEBSE conference is held alternately every year between IPB and UniMAP—therefore, MEBSE 2019 will be held in Malaysia. The members of supervisory board are comprised of IPB Ex-Rector (2007-2012 and 2012-2017)—Prof. Dr. Ir. Herry Suhardiyanto, Lecturer at IPB Department of Mechanical & Biosystem Engineering—Dr. Ir. Desrial, M.Eng., Deputy Director of YARI-IPB-Japan—Mr. Daisuke Miyamoto, Dean of IPB Faculty of Engineering and Technology—Prof. Dr. Ir. Kudang B. Seminar, MSc, Sultan Zainal Abidin University (Malaysia) representative—Prof. Dr. R. Badlishah Ahmad, UniMAP representative—Prof. Dr. Abdul Hamid Adom and representatives from University of Brunei Darussalam.
