The Center for Disaster Studies (PSB), the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB) will open a Disaster Response Student Command Post (Mantab) in the Ujung Jaya area of the Sumur District, Pandeglang, Banten. This was conveyed by the Secretary of PSB LPPM IPB, Dr. Perdinan when giving the initial survey report to the Head of LPPM IPB, Dr. Aji Hermawan at the IPB Dramaga Campus, Bogor (26/12).

In the initial stage, PSB had sent three students to conduct an initial survey and distribute aid. For the second stage, which will depart on December 28, PSB will send 15 students from various departments.

“They will carry out data collection on agromaritime (agriculture, fisheries and livestock). We will help the Agriculture Service. Later on, we will determine what IPB can provide in its role as a university so that it can take appropriate action steps. Maybe we will have assistance such as trauma healing, IPB Care, Car Galau and others. Moving students are now multidisciplinary. We will also embrace the Student Activity Unit (Lawalata, Himasper, Himakova, etc.), said Surya Gentha Akmal, Coordinator of the Mantab Team.

According to him, the Stable Action Team (TAS) wanted to map what the impact of the Banten and Lampung Tsunami disaster was and what efforts could be made for post-disaster recovery. The front guard is a student with direction from lecturers at IPB.

“The location of the post was chosen in the Ujung Jaya area, Sumur because it followed the directions from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), which must be at least one kilometer from the shoreline. We use the house from one of the IPB lecturers to become a post, “he added.

In addition, for the safety of volunteers, Dr. Perdinan said that PSB was thinking about vaccinating malaria with the team to be dispatched. The Mantab team is also not required to be in the post all day and is directed to contribute with other emergency response teams.

“The existence of higher education institutions in disaster locations is important for post disaster planning. To see, after the disaster happened what IPB could do. We also plan to make Damage and Lost Analysis (DALA) studies. We have developed the DALA method based on the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) but with additional vulnerability analysis for post disaster. In addition, the PSB is also preparing a disaster map. This is for mapping potential disaster areas and becoming a database of potential areas, so that they can be used as reference materials for zoning, “he said.

According to him, PSB through the TAS Mantab program wanted to be a trigger for other universities to be able to enter starting from before the incident, at the time of the incident and after the disaster, focusing on the vision and mission of IPB today, namely agromaritim. “Our goal is the concept of agro maritime IPB is also based on disaster. How can we build agriculture if a lot of disasters occur, “he said. (NR)
