Chancellor of the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB), Dr. Arif Satria accompanied by Chairman of Agrianita IPB, Neno Arif Satria welcomed the arrival of Chairman of the Tunas Muda Foundation for the Indonesian National Army Family Welfare Association (IKKT), Nanny Hadi Tjahjanto in the Rector's Meeting Room, IPB Dramaga Campus, Bogor (5/11). The visit of the wife of the TNI Commander was intended to find out how to cultivate family medicinal plants.
On this occasion, Nanny said that IKKT encouraged Indonesian mothers to cultivate medicinal plants, especially Indonesia which was rich in various medicinal plants. Family medicine plants or we usually know it as Toga is a plant that functions as a medicine that is usually planted in the yard or yard. This plant is usually used by the community as traditional medicine.
"The visit to IPB was something very useful and valuable, both for IKKT and the wives of the TNI. Members of the TNI and Indonesian mothers can learn how to cultivate medicinal plants and improve knowledge about the importance of having family medicinal plants that have enormous benefits for the family and surrounding communities. Family medicinal plants are very important to be planted and developed by the TNI and TNI wives so that they can lift and place medicinal plants as the mainstream in the health system. Toga should be used and developed into superior health commodities and economic resources as well as national identity, "he said.
Nanny hopes that IPB can assist and guide the mothers of TNI wives to cultivate family medicinal plants in their yard or in the garden properly.
Responding to the request, Dr. Arif Satria said that IPB is ready to assist and assist mothers from the IKKT to learn and develop family medicinal plants well.
"The development of Indonesian medicinal plants must continue to be improved from upstream to downstream. Including an increase in knowledge of medicinal plants cultivation and knowledge of how to mix medicinal plants well, so that the benefits can be felt by the community. It is also necessary to improve the right quality for the development of medicinal plants in Indonesia. IPB, in this case, continues to improve and develop conservation and preservation areas of Indonesian medicinal plants under the Tropical Biopharmaca Study Center (Trop BRC) Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), "he added.
Meanwhile, researcher of Trop BRC IPB, Dr. Siti Sa'diah explained that Toga is essentially a plot of land, both in the yard, garden or fields that are used to cultivate plants that have medicinal properties in order to meet the family's need for medicines.
"The garden of medicinal plants or medicinal ingredients and can then be distributed to the public, especially drugs from plants. Family medicinal plants (Toga) can spur small and medium enterprises in the field of herbal medicines even if done individually. "Every family can cultivate medicinal plants independently and use them, so that the principle of independence in family medicine will be realized," he said.
According to him, all types of medicinal plants such as cat whiskers, ginger, ginger, bangle, beluntas, starfruit, cocor duck, cabiroto, and others, have properties that are very good for health. "So if someone feels unwell, they can directly concoct the plant and can be used immediately," he said.
