IPB Students Swept Awards in Tri-U International Competition in Thailand

Tri-U International Joint Seminar and Symposium (IJSS) is an annual event that provides platforms for students to deliver their ideas and/or research results in international forum setting. “Tri-U” term originally stood for “Tri-Universities” representing the three founding universities: Mie University (Japan), Chiang Mai University (Thailand) and Jiangsu University (China), where eventually Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) became the 4th founder in 2010. Thus, IPB not merely roles as host of the event every 4 years, but IPB students also continuously deliver their outstanding and exceptional performance. This year, IPB sent 12 student delegates to partake in 25th Tri-U IJSS, held in Chiang Mai University, Thailand on November 5th-8th, 2018, which adopted “Population, Food, Energy, Environment to Sustainable Society” theme. IPB students delegates competed with counterparts from 15 universities in 5 countries, namely Indonesia, Japan, Thailand, China and South Korea. Out of 96 selected best papers, they won six best prizes, consisting of “The Best Poster Presenter” for Yustiyani (Faculty of Human Ecology; “Population” theme), Prilliani Madina (Faculty of Agricultural Engineering & Technology; “Food” theme), Hari Agung Pratama (Faculty of Agricultural Engineering & Technology; “Energy” theme) and Ditro Wibisono (Faculty of Forestry; “Environment” theme), meanwhile “The Best Oral Presenter” for Vionabela Bunga Nareswari and Yeni Katon Rahmawati Sujarnoko from Faculty of Agricultural Engineering & Technology. IPB officials as well participated during this occasion to strengthen existing collaboration with the participating universities, which were comprised of IPB Vice Rector for Collaboration and Information System—Prof Dr Dodik R Nurrochmat, IPB Director for Students Affair and Career Development—Dr Alim Setiawan and IPB Tri-U Advisors—Dr Sintho W Ardie and Dr Eko Hari Purnomo. Next year, the Tri-U IJSS will take place in Jiangsu University, China on October 20-24, 2019.
