Visit of the Public Relations Department, Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB) Communication Bureau to CNN Indonesia (25/10) resulted sweet. The media visit led by the Head of the Communication Bureau of IPB, Ir. Yatri Indah Kusumastuti, M.Si was received directly by CNN Indonesia's Social Media Manager, Jangkung Trisanto who was also an alumni of the Faculty of Agriculture of IPB and Frederick J Jebada, an alumni of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. In the meeting, Jangkung and Fred claimed to be ready to gather IPB alumni who are active in the world of journalism to join in echoing agricultural issues.

"There are several IPB alumni who work on CNN Indonesia. According to the leader of CNN, the IPB graduates are more diligent and never held back when it comes to work", said Jangkung. IPB alumni who are on CNN are reliable and trusted. Well, they are not a shame to the campus," Fred said.

In this meeting, Jangkung and Fred agreed to gather IPB alumni who were spread in various national media to jointly echo agricultural issues in the broadest sense.

"I'm ready to help. There are our alumni on Amazon, there are also alumni from the Department of Computer Science who work in Qatar. We are ready to gather to contribute to building a better alma mater," he said.

On this occasion, Yatri revealed that this media visit was carried out to enhance cooperation in the publication of research and agricultural innovations, to establish effective communication with national media, including discussing strategies in influencing millennial groups to love agriculture.

"Our visit, this public relations team in addition to the campaign that agriculture is important and interesting to cultivate, we have a mission on how students can produce interesting research for the millennial generation. For example, making an android application that can measure fertilizer needs through a leaf photo or smartphone application to measure the sweetness of the fruit," Yatri said.

According to Jangkung, television media is an expensive and capital-intensive industry. But the margin is almost the same as other industries.

"When CNN entered Indonesia, we see that the present era we can no longer claim our screen is most effective in reaching the public. Now the community is fragmented. People have seen news not from television news but from social media. We have no longer "treated" the main screen as the only window, but it is the social media storefront that has been seriously worked on," he said.

The media in America has changed their direction and they have begun to change the packaging. Now we (CNN Indonesia) are headed there when other media are still with the old business model.

"Yes, it's only a matter of time, it's not ideal anymore. Digital already has its own fragment, social media already has its own. Because it is our channels to reach viewers. Children now watch television again. Then how to deal with millennials and the next generation. I am sure the Y and Z generation of characters is still similar to the millennial generation because the revolution is new to mobile. Y and Z are still mobile, there is no new revolution. So, the character hasn't changed much. We must adjust to our goals. We must be able to manage this," he said. (RYS)
