Criticize the Development of Policy, IPB Students Win National Debating competition
Reformation and all its euphoria have changed the order of life of the nation and state a lot, including changes in the Indonesian national development planning process. Evaluation of the achievement of important national development policy objectives in order to create sustainable development. Equity and inequality are still the main problems in development at this time. Talking about the problem of sustainable development and strategic solutions is an interesting thing to look at. In particular, increasing the development perspective for young people needs to be improved.
Voicing critical and creative thinking on Indonesia's development equality policy and its strategic analysis towards sustainable development, three students from the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB) won second place at the 2018 National Economics Creative Competition (NECC) held by Alauddin Makassar Islamic University in September. They are Rafi Fazan (Department of Agricultural Industry Technology), Apip Nurdin (Department of Biology), and Dedi Iskandar (Department of Forest Management). NECC is a national student competition event held by the Makassar Alauddin State Islamic University regularly every year. Last year the IPB delegation won the top four in this debate competition. In addition to the national debate competition there is also a national essay competition. To win the competition in the debate, the three IPB students must compete with teams from other universities in Indonesia.
As an annual activity, this event certainly attracts many students in the archipelago. Before officially becoming a participant in the debate competition, the registrants were obliged to send written ideas in the form of critical essays and solutions to problems of equitable development in Indonesia.
"This debate competition is really exciting. The theme of the competition is presented in accordance with national issues and development issues that are currently being discussed so that participants are required to be more sensitive to the problems and solutions, "Fazan said.
This competition is a forum for learning and voicing the critical thoughts of young people on development policies as a contribution of youth to the Indonesian people. After competing from the preliminary round to the grand final, finally the team from IPB managed to bring home the title in this race.
Fazan added that there are many ways to compete and win national competitions including debates. Namely by reading a lot, monitoring the news, and critical discussion. This is the provision for participating in the debate competition. "If there is a theme that suits our interests, try and try, it will be easier to argue and master the material provided," said Fazan (jhn)
