Once Pessimistic, IPB Students Win Compfest X CTF 2018
Students of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) again showed their achievements on the national stage. This time three of his students succeeded in winning the "Compfest X CTF 2018". This prestigious event is organized by the Faculty of Computer Science, University of Indonesia.
They were Zaki Geyan (Computer Science 53), Ahmad Maulvi Alfansuri (Computer Science 53), and Usman Abdul Halim (Computer Science 54). All three are students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA). The three students managed to bring the victory trophy as Second Runner-up (3rd Place) "Compfest X CTF".
"Compfest X CTF is a competition in the field of network security and information on a national scale. The preliminary round was made online through the Compfest website in August. Then the final round was held on September 16, 2018 at the University of Indonesia's Computer Science Faculty with Awarding Night at night, "said Zaki.
In this competition participants are challenged to secure a program or web from other teams. "We were given a program and several web addresses. Our task is to find security holes from the program and the web, then look for important data that has been provided by the problem-setter. We also need to be able to secure the program or the web so that it cannot be broken into by other teams, "said Maulvi.
"In addition we will also get points for each program and web that we have explored. Even so when we attack programs and the web from other teams, "he added.
The three claimed to have been pessimistic about winning this race because the competition was very tight. In the race they had to compete with nine other teams whose participants consisted of students and the public.
"We did not think we could become the third champion, even though the opponent was quite heavy. We are happy and proud to be able to make the name of IPB at the national level and can prove that IPB is no less competitive in the field of computers or information technology, "said Zaki.
The three hope that they can continue to make the name of IPB national and international. "Surely we need to study harder so we can achieve maximum results when competing.
