LPPM IPB Held Training of PPM Database Planning in University

Institute of Research and Community Empowerment (LPPM) Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) organized “Training of Research and Community Empowerment Database Planning”. This activity was participated by 19 participants from ten universities in Indonesia and was held at Mahoni Room IPB Taman Kencana Campus, Bogor (29-30/8).

Head of Committees, Prof. Dr. Pudji Muljono said that this training has been held for the fourth time. This training was participated by Lampung State Polytechnic, Semarang State Polytechnic, Tasikmalaya Kemenkes Medical Polytechnic, Ahmad Dahlan University, Brawijaya University, Mataram University, Gorontalo State University, Malang State University, Padang State University and Veteran University Jawa Timur.

“In addition to share about data base to fellow LPPM activists, PPM database planning is the one thing that need to be pursued continuously, so PPM database shall be applied by all universities in conducting research until it is available to be inseminated to community”, he conveyed.

He added that this training aims to provide knowledge and skill for participants in understanding the PPM database forming mechanism, planning of PPM database structure in university, filling, maintaining, rejuvenating and utilizing the created database to determine direction of PPM policy in university.

Head of LPPM in this case was represented by Vice Head for Research Program, Prof. Dr. Drh Agik Suprayogi, mentioned that PPM’s products in university are the accumulation of knowledge assets , which will enrich scientific substances and next it may become the foundation for the growth of its derivative sciences or applied technology that is beneficial to life.

“With the advance of information technology, documentation and storage of PPM’s results are able to be performed better, easier, and faster to trace down. Therefore, university need to develop it according to the uniqueness and diversity of knowledge field. This database will be beneficial in determining the direction of PPM policy in university,” he said.

It is hoped that this training gave participants knowledge and skills in designing PPM database formation mechanism through the coordination among units involved in the institution.

The delivered contents included database utilization and function in improving PPM performance, formation of database team and operational mechanism, research classification techniques accordance to DIKTI and RIP of each university, process of database creation, PPM data publication, and direct practice of designing database team and operational mechanism in each institution.

Present as speakers were Vice Head for Research Program LPPM IPB, Prof. Dr. Drh. Agik Suprayogi, lecturer from Department of Communication Science and Community Development Faculty of Human Ecology (FEMA) IPB, Prof. Dr. Pudji Muljono, lecturer from Department of Animal Diseases and Veterinary Health Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH) IPB, Dr. Drh. Sri Murtini, lecturer from Department of Biology Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) IPB, Dr. Dra, Triadiati, Agency for Technology Assessment and Application (BPPT), Huda M. Elmatsani, Ssi, M.Kom and lecturer from Department of Mechanical and Biosystem Engineering (TMB) IPB, Dr. Ir. I Wayan Astika. (qa)
