KKN-T IPB Students Care about The Education in Sale Sub-District, Rembang District

Community service is a movement to give insight, skills, and education to the community in need. It has been done by the students of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) that did Real Thematic Work Lecture (KKN-T) in Rembang District.

The students gave a motivation session to the children in schools in Sale Sub-District, Rembang District that had a low level of education. There was little interest from the children of the area to continue their education to a higher degree.

“Through direct observation and approach with the people, it is found that the level education here is still very low. Most people only reach Junior High School (SMP). After graduating SMP, they work in the city or become unemployed,” said Asy, one of the student participants of KKN-T.

Because of that, IPB student created a motivational program to schools, especially Junior High Schools in Sale Sub-District. There were three SMPs and one MT that were visited by the students.

The students visited the school with various approached. In SMP 1 Sale, the students also approached the parents through the parents meeting. Not only the parents were invited to a discussion, outside, the children were also invited to have a group discussion with the agenda of a motivational session to keep studying. “Alhamdulillah, we become more excited to study. The kakak-kakak (older brother/sisters) are very nice,” said one of the students. (CN)
