To Improve the Softskills of Graduates, IPB Holds a Pre-Graduation Studium Generale
The Directorate of Students and Carreer Development of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) again holds a Pre-Graduation Studium Generale, Tuesday (7/24) at the Andi Hakim Nasoetion Auditorium, IPB Dramaga Campus, Bogor. This event was held to give a pictorization for the graduates who will soon enter the carreer world.
The Director of Students and Carreer Development of IPB, Dr. Alim Setiawan Slamet said that graduating from university is not the end of everything, it actually is the start of all life challenges. “The hardest challenge is how to recieve a job that you actually want with a large number of competing job seekers. Therefore it is necessary to have self managerial skills. Prepare your softskills well, Graduates must be able to have skills such as technology and information, communicaitons in English, time management, diciplined, synergistic, and collaboration.”
IPB Students should be more prepared to face the disruption era and industrial revolution 4.0 and continue to sharpen their skills and improve their digital skills. Our graduates should be able to develop theirselves more by improving their emotional intelligence, and their skills outside of technical and academic skills by prioritizing their interpersonal skills,” he explains.
The goal is so that the graduates will keep imporiving their capacity to be able to compete in the carreer world. Instead of depending theirselves on the work fields, they should start to try creating working fields. Showing contribution and become an active actor in the development of our nation.
This Pre-graduation Studium Generale invited two sources which are successful alumni of IPB, they were from Pricing Manager DAI Global LLC and also President and Co-Founder of Hope 4 Our Children, Arwa Inayati Nasution and successful enterpreneur Mitra Tani Farm, Budi Susilo Setiawan. Meanwhile, the presence of sources with successful enterpreneur backgrounds was in hope to open the minds of the graduates in facing the challenges after campus life.Both sources gave motivation and spirit in searching for a job. To become a young successful enterpreneur which can manage and develop a business productively is not an easy thing to do. Choose one specific type of enterpreneurship which you really enjoy and are capable of,” says Inayati.
“Create an enterpreneurship with knowledge and skills that you already own, keep moving forward to become successful. Then, master the concept of that enterprenurship perfectly and get to know your own strengths and weaknesses. Finally, where there is a will, there is a way to successfully reach your goals and that is the key to developing a successful business,” says Budi Susilo Setiawan. (AVR)
