IPB Rector Becomes Speaker at the Indonesia Pacific Parliamentary Partnership Meeting
Rector of Bogor Institute of Agriculture (IPB), Dr. Arif Satria becomes speaker at the Parliamentary Cooperation Meeting of Pacific Countries or Indonesia Pacific Parliamentary Partnership "Human Development and Maritime Sustainability" at the Grand Hyatt, Jakarta, Monday (23/7). The Chancellor of IPB spoke in his capacity as a Policy Expert on Maritime and Fisheries. Dr. Arif was asked to explain the strategy of empowering coastal communities to improve the welfare of the people in the region. Dr. Arif explained the community empowerment model that could be developed in the region. "It is necessary to synergize the model of community empowerment cooperation in Indonesia and the Pacific,"explained Dr. Arif.
The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said that Indonesia's cooperation with countries in the South Pacific region must be improved. "Because Indonesia has a long historical relationship."
Chairman of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI), Bambang Soesatyo officially opened the event. "Cooperation between the two sides has shown a slow but steady improvement in economic cooperation over the years. For that Indonesia and countries in the Pacific region need to accelerate a breakthrough step to build mutually beneficial cooperation "said Bambang. Furthermore, Bambang said, it is very important for the Indonesian Parliament and in countries in the Pacific region to work together in a good and stable environment, which can contribute to economic development and international cooperation.
The event initiated by DPR RI focuses on three main sections: (1) Building partnerships for future development; (2) Parliament's push to promote blue economic potential to ensure sustainable development of marine resources; and (3) Human resource development as a new driving force for the economic growth of the Indonesian Pacific Partnership.
