IPB Student Compete 12 Times and Won 9 Times
They are Habibul Fuadi Hanif, Department of Mechanical and Biosystem Engineering, and Laras Salsabila, Department of Communication Science and Community Development, and Futiha Hikmatul Husna, Department of Biochemistry Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) won 1st place in Political Debate Competition Students of West Java 2018. Also on the same occasion, one of the students of the team was awarded as best speaker, he was Habibul Fuadi Hanif.
The debate competition that held last May was held by KPUD West Java along with the Political Science Faculty of Padjadjaran University with the theme of "Smart Electors for Better Election," as an effort to rebuild the positive spirit of youth and train students to always be critical.
Habibul was very grateful because this was an achievement that he had dreamed of for a long time.
"Thank God Alhamdulillah because this achievement has been my dream of a long time, in fact since many years ago," he said.
In the debate competition, there are many challenging things for Habibul, for example when getting new material that rarely or even never known before. Moreover, his basis is agriculture while the debate speaks of politics.
For Habibul, it is precisely at that time that he and the team must strive to compensate for the knowledge of opponents from the Department of Political Science, Law Science, and Government Administration.
"Another thing that is also challenging for me is when uniting the thoughts with teammates to be unified and can exhibit the best," he explained.
Habibul has participated in 12 debate competitions since he enrolled in IPB and won 9 of them. He has been honed his debate ability since high school. When asked about debate tips, Habibul said that while competing, they must be able to understand each other in the team.
"For me, the mutual understanding in one team is important so that what is discussed between teammates is connected and the most important thing is praying. Besides that, I've got good words from the seminar about the debate that inspires me: Understand what annoys you. Understand what annoys your teammates Do not do what annoys your teammate," Habibul said. (RYS)
