IPB Applicants through SBMPTN Increase by 20 Percent
The number of students interested in studying at Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) with entry path called Seleksi Bersama Masuk Perguruan Tinggi Negeri (SBMPTN) rose 20 percent from the previous year. This was conveyed by the Rector of IPB, Dr. Arif Satria, when reviewing the execution of SBMPTN examination at IPB campus, Tuesday (8/5). IPB applicants increased from 34,593 students last year to 42,037 this year. The number of participants who chose IPB as their first choice was 13,010 people, while as the second choice was 11,876, and as the third choice was 9,709. "We hope that the prospective students who are accepted to study at IPB through SBMPTN later can be qualified and easily adapt to the new environment," said Rector of IPB.
Vice Rector for Education and Student Affairs of IPB, Dr. Drajat Martianto, on 8 May 2018 delivered that the Local Committee (Panlok) 33 of Bogor held SBMPTN Exam simultaneously in five Sub Panlok located in Bogor, Sukabumi, Cianjur, Bekasi, Karawang and Cirebon. Five Sub Panlok conducted a written test using the Printed Based Writing Exam (UTBC) method. While the implementation of Computer Based Writing Exam (UTBK) was only in Bogor and Karawang. The UTBK in Bogor was conducted in IPB Dramaga, Cilibende and Baranangsiang Campus, while in Karawang was held at the campus of Singaperbangsa University. In addition, Singaperbangsa University, Karawang, also incorporated in Panlok 33, was also appointed as the organizer of Sport Skills Test which was held on 9 and 11 May 2018.
"The total number of SBMPTN participants who took the exam in Bogor Panlok this year reached 50,518 people consisting of 24,519 participants of the Science and Technology (Saintek) exam group, 21,232 people of the Social and Humanities (Soshum) exam group, and 4,767 people of the Mixed exam group. A total of 600 people of the participants took the test with UTBC method and others used UTBK method. This year there was an increase in the number of participants as much as 15.26 percent compared with the number of participants in 2017 as many as 43,826 people," said Dr. Drajat.
Among the five venues for holding the SBMPTN examination at Bogor Panlok, the highest number of participants was in Sub Panlok of Bekasi with 16,585 people, followed by Sub Panlok of Bogor with 16,399 people (15,829 UTBC and 570 UTBK). Meanwhile, the number of participants at other Sub Panlok in Cirebon was 8,013 people, 5,040 people (5,000 UTBC and 40 UTBK) in Karawang and 4,481 people in Sukabumi.
There were also five deaf, disabled and blind participants joining the test. They came from Bogor (2 persons) and Bekasi (5 persons). The committee had provided a special assistant for disable participants. (ZSP)
