Students of Bidikmisi of IPB Served in Legok Nyenang Village, Bogor
Paguyuban Bidikmisi of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) held Bidikmisi Turun Desa (BMTD) in Legok Nyenang Village, Bogor. This turun desa activity was routinely conducted every week with the aim of improving the softskill of young children.
BMTD was the community of recipients of the Bidikmisi scholarship who had the high social spirit. The students wished to pay their debts to the state in the educational scholarship that had been given the state.
For BMTD this time, the students taught how to grow plants and taught how to brush their teeth. “Currently, the total number of children that we train from one Early Childhood Education (PAUD) ranges from 31 students and will expand into two other PAUDs," explained Rezki Gunadi, the Chairman of BMTD of IPB.
Laras, as the manager of PAUD Anggrek, felt very helped by this BMTD. In addition to the routine teaching and learning activities every week, the students of IPB also qurban in Legok Nyenang. “There have never been the qurban here. Alhamdulillah Eid al-Adha in the previous year the students of IPB qurban here," she explained.
"Until now, Alhamdulillah with BMTD, we get a variety of assistance. An example from Mr. Frem (India) donating a bench worth 2.7 million rupiah. Other than that, we also get the help of building materials for the construction of PAUD building,” she said.
According to her, the presence of BMTD was helping the activity of PAUD Anggrek to be more advanced. Laras encouraged that BMTD could to serve other PAUD as well. The various activities undertaken by BMTD today were focused on the education as well as on the community development. The activities of BMTD also helped to increase the participation of the children in Kampung Legok Nyenang to go to school. Previously, many children from the poor families did not get the experience of PAUD school. After the formation of PAUD, finally they could also feel the name of early childhood education.
Hopefully, this BMTD could go on in generating and encouraging people in Legok Nyenang Village, especially the children. “After this PAUD, the students who attend the Elementary School (SD) have increased in terms of reading, writing, and counting better than ever," explained Erik, as RT 03, Kampung Legok Nyenang.(Uum/Zul)
