BEM KM IPB, Organized Training Program to Prepare Students as Movement Agent of IPB
Student Executive Board of Bogor Agricultural University (BEM KM IPB) held the inauguration of Akademi Pergerakan IPB (API IPB Academy Movement) for new incoming students of cohort 54 and 53 of IPB. The API Program was carried out at Gunung Bunder Camp, Bogor, on 7-8 April 2018. A total of 50 students participated in this program.
Sayyid Al-Bahr, as Minister of National Policy of BEM KM IPB, explained that the establishment of API Program is due to the insensitivity of students to national issues.
"Nowadays, students are unaware of their role in society. Including as how to criticize government policy. While the students are expected to be agent of change, swift and need to be active in community. We are aware of the lack of interest of students in learning the national issues, "said Sayyid.
API Program are a serial programs planned to be carried out from February – August 2018.
"The concepts of API Program is like school movements, which are to be compiled into three program activities. The first program, participants will be invited to join a training course to introduce them into the world of movement. The training will cover the role of students in the communities, the national issues that Indonesia encounters, and so on. After completing the first program, the participants will be inaugurated where their roles as member of API Program as change agent of IPB will be reiterated. Further training will be provided to train soft-skills participants, which contain leadership, time management, conflict management, and so on, "said Sayyid.
Sayyid expected that the API Program participants will pass on the spirit of movement to other students. "Hopefully this activity can increase the capacity of participants in the world of movement, especially to hone the critical power of students, so they be change agent and movement agent of IPB and can pass on that spirit to other students," Sayyid said.
Ammy Khoirunnisa, one of the API Program participants said that this API Program will be the forum for participants to learn to be more critical on the national problems of Indonesia.
"In the API Program we learn to criticize the national problems of our beloved country, such as the 20-year reform issue. In the training course, the participants learn the ideology in Indonesia and time management. I am really happy attending such course as I can learn more. I am sure that I won’t get such important things without the existence of the API Program as the forum to learn the movement and to grow my critical power," said Ammy. (Wied)
