BEM FPIK IPB Organized “Sekolah Akselerasi”

Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, of Bogor Agricultural University (BEM FPIK IPB) organized the special event on "Sekolah Akselerasi Acceleration School", carried out in the Discussion Room of FPIK, Campus IPB, Dramaga, Bogor, on Sunday, 8 April 2018.
This "Sekolah Akselerasi” was a series of work programs carried out by the Department of Student Resource Development (PSDM) of BEM FPIK 2018. The aims of the program were to develop the leadership potential of FPIK students, writing scientific papers, and provide knowledge and successful strategies for them toward post-campus life.
"This was a serial program consisted of leadership training, scientific writing training, post-campus seminars, TOEFL training, and later on also First Step to Mapres," said Adi Nugroho, Chairman of PSDM BEM FPIK 2018.
Leadership Training was chosen as the opening program for "Sekolah Akselerasi”, as to improve soft and hard skills of FPIK IPB students. Leadership is one of those things that's often awfully hard to define but you know when you see it, and you definitely know when it's missing. So, this special Training aims to prepare young intellectual maturity, understanding good leadership behaviours, and able to determining how well they perceive what's going on around them, and create a character that is not monotonous leadership.
"In the Leadership Training, the participants learned the importance of sharpening the leadership soul for the young generation in this millenial era," said Adi. M. Sigit Susanto (Student President of KM IPB Period 2012 – 2013) and Qudsyi Ainul Fawaid (President of KM IPB Student Period 2017-2018) were invited as the resource persons for this Training.
"During which Kak Sigit discussed how to manage good organization, how to improve personal branding, and empowering, motivating and inspiring the millenial youth forward to increase their capacity," explained Adi.
"In the second session, Kak Qudsyi discussed any issues in the organizational problems, and how to balance between organization, academic and achievement. Involvement in extracurricular activities provides college students with opportunities to meet and connect with other students, explore areas of interest, and contribute to the campus and community. A healthy balance of academics and extracurricular activities is key to a successful college experience. This session used Focus Group Discussion method that encouraged very interactive student participation," he added.
At the end Adi expected that "Sekolah Akselerasi”, would be useful to increase the organizational knowledge of the participants. "Our hope for the output of this "Sekolah Akselerasi”, will develop the character and identity as to improve the quality of FPIK IPB students. (Wied)
