This Year IPB Utilizes ICT to Enhance Teaching, Learning and Administrative Functions of the University

Working Unit of IPB together with their respective staff to attend the Coordination Meeting of Work Program and Budget Framework (RKA), in the Auditorium of the Faculty of Mathematics and Science (FMIPA),  IPB Campus, Dramaga, Bogor, on 26 March 2018.

Rector said, the RKA had been adopted since 2017, but they need revision for the implementation. "The recommendations resulted by this meeting will be submitted to the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti) in April 2018. This meeting was an opportunity to examine and sharpening the focus institutional work programs of IPB designed previously, to become more purposeful contributors to the broader university strategic goals, "he said.

Under his leadership, IPB is expected to be the new pioneer of modern management systems of higher education. This year will be the year we utilize Information and Technology (IT) to solve the various problems of the existing management system. the university has an opportunity to elevate the utilization of innovative technology in order to enhance teaching, learning and administrative functions. Technology has come up with most scalable solutions which can impact business across the world. We expect that algorithmic thinking from computer science can solve very human problems.

"With regard to the development of science and scientific knowledge, on the one hand we will develop the new faculty. On the other hand we also plan to have Faculty Downsizing program. Information Technology and Communication (ICT) will help IPB to solve this problem,”  he said.

ICT will also make IPB as a proactive university to solve community problems and to determine which direction national policy should take is certainly not easy. With reference of such goal, the rector has divided the work programs  into seven main programs, as follows: .

First, IPB Care, which includes the faculty welfare, students welfare, welfare of educational staff.

Second, IPB Green, which includes infrastructure, zero waste management, green transportation.

Third, IPB Smart, which includes Smart Finance, ICT System, Smart Governance, Smart Learning, Smart Human Capital.

Fourth, IPB Lead,  which includes Entrepreneurship, Leadership, Character Development.

Fifth,   IPB Biz, which includes innovation and business development.

Sixth,   IPB Share,  which includes sharing data across agencies and government, and public.

Seventh, IPB 500, it is the target of IPB to reach the World University Ranking covering international mobility and publication.

.Rector of IPB also mentioned the goal to be achieved by IPB from 2019 until 2023 that is to produce transformative science, technology and art in order to achieve Sustainable development and quality of life.

"New innovations must be created that encourage people and businesses to move from the informal sector to the formal sector. This innovation must be able to transform to the external, business field. The Institute of Research and Community Empowerment of IPB (LPPM) is very interested in these new innovations. From the nature of the universe (that's if there is only one) to the purpose of dreams, there are lots of things we still don't know – but we might do soon. Therefore, new sciences should be discussed. To discuss the new sciences, early April I will go to the Faculty to study the possibilities to implement new science," he said.

IPB is also expected to be a determinant of the current sciences trends in agriculture, marine and tropical bioscience at national and global levels.

Rector presented in this event the University Strategic Plan 2018, and the draft Revision I RKAT was presented by Vice Rector for Resources, Planning and Finance, Dr.Agus Purwito. In addition, each directorate, office and bureau also presented their annual work programs. (Wied)
