IGTS of IPB Students Encouraged Temanggung High Schools Students to Create Their Big Dream for Their Future

Toward the opening of the entrance exam for new students, Organisasi Mahasiswa Daerah (OMDA Regional Student Organization) of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) originally of from Temanggung Paguyuban Mahasiswa Temanggung Makukuhan (PMTM) conducted mentoring and socialization program about Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB) to High School (SMA) in 5 schools in Temanggung. It is expected that the current socialization would assist students of High Schools to make their unlimited dreams and even surpass them come true.

As a world-class university, IPB has initiated such program which familiarly called IPB Goes to School (IGTS) that offers many scholarships and facilities to support its educational programs. So far there have been 45 types of scholarships available for students of IPB in 2017 amounted to 86.2 billion Rupiah were successfully disbursed. IPB was also elected as the most innovative campus recently. Such achievements have attracted prospective High School students to participate in developing Indonesia, by pursuing their higher degree program on agriculture, in Bogor Agricultural University.

In addition to promote IPB by providing detail information on the university, this socialization was enriched by the introduction of successful alumni IPB from Temanggung, such as prof. Dr. Djumali Mangunwidjaja, DEA; Nurul Laeli, S.Si, M.Si; and Sendi Eskasetya, S.Komp, M.Si. Hopefully, the introduction of successful alumni who are originally  from Temanggung, the students who will soon be students of some universities are being motivated to create big dreams and make them come true.

"The enthusiasm of the High Schools students was tremendous. The IGTS is expected   to foster their courage and motivate them flying as high as possible," said Deslaknyo Wisnu Hanjagi, one of the PMTM personnel who is currently pursuing his graduate studies program in  Wageningen University and Research, the best agricultural university in the Netherlands .

The students who were visited the socialization program also felt helpful and motivated by the IGTS program.

"Very, very helpful, I am so motivated, I also want to study the Nutrition Science of IPB," said Faizah Rizky,  student of SMA Negeri 1 Temanggung,.

This activity was also supported by teachers for Counseling Guidance (BK). One of whom was Trissiadina, S. Pd., teacher for counseling of SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Temanggung. She said that IGTS was very helpful and motivate students very much, because they can interact directly with representative of Bogor Agricultural University.

According to Dina, Temanggung's students have the ability to excel, but they do not have the courage to create big dreams. "The IGTS program is expected to motivate Temanggung students  to foster their courage and motivate them flying as high as possible," said Dina. (Wied)
