Excitement of IPB Goes to School in Klaten
The Klaten Knights, or commonly called the Student Family of Klaten of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), visited 14 senior high schools in Klaten, Central Java, recently. The visit, named IPB Goes to School (IGTS), attracted 2,906 students.
"In this IGTS activity, the Klaten Knights took turns in explaining the importance of agriculture for the Indonesian nation. Alhamdulillah, many students became more open-minded about the importance of further study for their future. There were also students who became more confident to continue their studies in IPB," said the committee, Hayu Widi Yuana.
She said that high school students thought Bogor as a metropolitan city and they were concerned about the living cost in this city. "However, we explained that there is no need to worry about the cost, considering many scholarships offered by IPB to the students," added Hayu.
In addition to students who were very enthusiastic, the teachers also felt happy with the holding of this IGTS. "On behalf of the students of 12th grade of SMAN 1 Jogonalan, we would like to thank the students of IPB who had given a lot of explanation about advanced study after graduating from high school," said one of the Guidance and Counselling Teacher of SMAN 1 Jogonalan.
