Contribution of PKSPL-LPPM IPB to Promote Indonesian Marine Resources
The Center for Coastal and Marine Resources Studies (PKSPL) of the Institute of Research and Community Empowerment of IPB (LPPM) organized the scientific discussion "Percepatan Pertumbuhan Ekonomi Nasional melalui Pembangunan Ekonomi Kelautan (The Acceleration of National Economic Growth through Economic Development of Marine)", on 1 March 2018. The event was held in the ETDC Room of PKSPL of LPPM IPB, Baranangsiang Campus, Bogor. It was a joint cooperation between Bogor Agricultural University with the Coordinating Ministry for the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Ministry of National Development Planning / National Development Planning Agency (PPN / Bappenas).
Head of PKSPL IPB, Dr. Ario Damar, stated that the output of the scientific discussion will be compiled to be a book, and it will be the contribution of PKSPL LPPM IPB for the advancement of the national marine Indonesia.
Dr Ario said that PKSPL IPB has been actively conducted the study and advocacy of marine economic policy of Indonesia. The national seminar series have been scheduled for once every three months in 2018 to 2019, they are designed as effort to mainstream marine sector development in Indonesia it is still not implemented properly.
"The discussions we are carrying out today and in the next series will strengthen Indonesia's marine economic platform and governance. The goal is to elucidate the challenges of integrating social-ecological science into practical uses for natural resource management, conservation planning, and policy-making in marine ecosystem as a distinctive feature of Indonesia. This national seminar series presents marine experts and stakeholders at local and national level. The results of the seminar will be published and submitted to policy makers, they are expected to be one of the drivers of marine economic development in Indonesia," said Dr Ario.
The first series of national seminars we are organizing today, will discuss the state of the art of Indonesia's marine economic development to date by reviewing marine economic platforms, maritime-based budgeting policies and systems that have been carried out so far. The next seminar will discuss seven spectrum of marine economy alternatively. The spectrum of fisheries economy, marine tourism economy, marine transportation economy will be discussed in three scientific discussions in 2018. In 2019 the seminar will discuss four other spectrum, namely offshore EMR economy, maritime industry economy, marine building economy and marine service economy.
Special guest attend as speakers for this present scientific discussion omong others were the Secretary of the Ministry of PPN / Main Secretary of Bappenas, Ir Gellwynn D.F, Phd; Deputy III for Infrastructure Coordination of the Coordinating Ministry of Marine Affairs, Irwan Jamaludin; Professor of IPB as the main reference from the scientific side, Prof. Tridoyo Kusumastanto.
This special event which was moderated by the Dean of Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences of Bogor Agricultural University (FPIK IPB), Dr. Luky Adriyanto, was attended by a number of regional heads, entrepreneurs in the field of fisheries and marine, NGOs and students.
On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Tridoyo Kusumastanto, present the maritime sustainability is sea and land. "As a maritime country, we should be able to manage and utilize the sea, then prosperity can be achieved," he said. (Wied)
