IPB Students Completed “Basic Military Education and Training” of Mahawarman Student Regiment (Menwa)

Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs of Bogor Agricultural University  (IPB), Prof. Dr. Yonny Koesmaryono, officially closed the activities of "Basic Military Education and Training" of Mahawarman Student Regiment, Battalion V11 / Suryakencana A Company of IPB, in IPB Campus, Dramaga, Bogor, on 31 January 2018. On this special occasion, Prof. Yonny symbolically took off the participants' sign and put the beret  to the participants.

Prof. Yonny advised the participants to be able to devote the knowledge they gained for the sake of Menwa and keep the spirit of alma mater. "Members must be able to give their own colours. Cultivate the nationality values. The spirit to keep achieving, "he said.

"Basic Military Education and Training" Menwa was participated by 43 students, consisting of 38 female and 5 male students. The “Basic Military Education and Training” program was carried out in Yonif 315 Garuda and Mount Halimun Bogor, on 21-31 January 2017.

The Chairman of the Organzing Committee who is also the Company Commander, Adit, said that this training should be undertaken by the member candidate of Menwa. "We were trained by the 315th Infantry Battalion in the Army. One of the itineraries of  the "Basic Military Education and Training"  program, the participants were instructed to walk from Infantry Battalion 315 to Mount Halimun within five days journey, "he said.

Adit said the "Basic Military Education and Training" trained students to take responsibility for the actions taken; in addition the program has taught students they'll think more flexibly even they're under pressure; as well as to improve their physical fitness levels as well as improving their mental wellbeing.

"Further training programs will planned for them, such as staff training courses, proficient shooting, the Paskibraka (Indonesian: Pasukan Pengibar Bendera Pusaka or "National Flag Hoisting Troop") training, and others," he added. (Wied)
