IPB student Was Elected to Be the Indonesian Delegate for Student Exchange Program in the Philippines

Fannisa Septariana, a student of the Department of Family and Consumer Science, the Faculty of Human Ecology of Bogor Agricultural University (FEMA IPB) was elected as one  of the delegations of Student Exchange Program to the University of the Philippines, Diliman. The Exchange Program of SHARE Credit Transfer and Scholarship is a collaboration between ASEAN and Europe with the aim of improving the quality of ASEAN students after attending lectures in Intra-ASEAN and ASEAN-EU.

Fannisa will undertake the program for one semester, i.e. from December 2017 – May 2018. Two Indonesian students were elected for this student exchange program, namely Fannisa of IPB with another Indonesian student of Diponegoro University (UNDIP), Semarang.

While at the University of the Philippines, Diliman, Fannisa enrol some subjects in the School of Home Economics, on the Departments of Family and Child Development and Home Economic Education. "So far no other activity has been carried out,  because currently we are in the adaptation stage. So just travelling around the city with new friends there, "said Fannisa.

Despite she is now in final semester in IPB, Fannisa interest remains the same to realize her dream to pursue her higher degree program abroad. "Initially it was a dilemma for her as she has to postpone her graduation for this exchange program. However, this golden  opportunity has been supported by her parents and relatives, they make her to be more confident to continue her dream," she said.

Fannisa's selection process was quite short, there was only file selection without interview. However, the struggle is quite heavy because of learning activities are quite heavy.

Fannisa told her experience after a few days of undertaking the education system at the University of the Philippines, Diliman, such as its international standardized education system; comfortable classroom conditions which consisted of 20 students; and teachers who adapt the habits of young people. Fannisa admitted that she initially experiencing culture shock, as only a few students who wear veil in class and every student freely express themselves. "I hope the student exchange program will increase our knowledge, experience, and relationships," she concluded. (Wied)
