This was the Key of IPB Students to Win the National Debate
To pursue the field of agricultural technology, it did not necessarily become a barrier for three students from the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Bogor Agricultural University (Fateta of IPB) to be forward to convey the aspiration and to argue about other topics.
All three were, Yusuf Ali Nurdin (Department of Agricultural Industrial Technology), Atsirudy Wibowo (Agricultural Industrial Technology), and Habibul Fuadi Hanif (Mechanical Engineering and Biosystem).
The three of them collaborated in participating in the debate competition of the 2017 National Lexicon held by Language Debate Society, Airlangga University, Surabaya on 17- 19 November 2017.
In the national debate competition, Yusuf and his two colleagues won the second place. "When I win I am grateful and proud to bring the name of IPB in the debate competition despite the debate discussion is non-agriculture," explained Yusuf when asked about his feeling when winning the competition.
The debate competition themed "Permasalahan Indonesia dalam Perspektif Budaya / Indonesia’s Problems in the Cultural Perspective" discussing the issues with varied topics. "The topics covered are quite varied, ranging from the issue of fanatism of a community organization, the problems in the academic world, the feminism issue, and the problems of the concept of private sector participation in the urban development, " explained Yusuf.
Before carrying out the debate, Yusuf and his two colleagues should first discuss the issues that would arise when the competition and design the strategies related to any argument that would be brought.
The success of Yusuf and his friends would not be achieved, without any teamwork. According to Yusuf, there was a challenge for them when participating in the competition. “We must have the understanding and perspective on the wide range of current issues at hand, maintaining the cohesiveness and the teamwork," he said.
Habib also added the importance of keeping each other to keep the emotion under control during the debate. (SMH/ris)
