Rector of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Dr. Arif Satria, stated that IPB had a great commitment in setting forth the national leaders. “This commitment will be embodied by IPB through a number of steps and a systematic process. One of the new things that will be done by IPB in 2018 is to open a new path to the entry selection of IPB, namely the path of the Head of OSIS or the leadership talent path,” said the Rector in the event of the Socialization of National Selection to Enter the State University (SNMPTN) and the Joint Selection to Enter the State University (SBMPTN) in Grha Widya Wisuda (GWW), Campus of IPB Dramaga, Bogor (31/1).

The Rector said, when the interest of the prospective students to study in agriculture in various universities declined further, then IPB opened the selection to find the prospective students who had a passion for agriculture as well as had talent of the leadership and the entrepreneurship through an independent selection that was named the Entry Talent Test to IPB (UTMI), applying the selection through the mechanism of the talent mapping and the academic potential test.

The Rector added, now in the era of democracy and decentralization, when the quality of the leadership in the center and the region became one of the most pressing needs, IPB developed one of the selection scheme of the new student candidates for the special path of the Heads of OSIS who were qualified academically as the students of IPB. This scheme was one of the independent selection to find the prospective students who had been proven to have leadership as the Heads of OSIS during SMA, as well as had sufficient academic ability to be educated in IPB to be the candidate leaders who had the high intellectual, in other words the intellectual which had the strong leadership spirit.

“It is hoped that this scheme will produce the prospective leaders, both the national, regional, corporate and community leaders who lead the scientific approach, which is to apply the scientific based leadership,” explained the Rector.

The Rector explained, in 2018 IPB allocated 130 – 160 places from the total quota of 4 thousand students for the special path of the Heads of OSIS.
