Just One Year Became a Student, Already Flew to Seven Countries
Mahtuf Ikhsan, a young man from Duri Riau (17 years old), was successfully becoming the student in Department of Forest Management, Faculty of Forestry, Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) in 2016. During his time, Mahtuf incised dozens of national and international achievements to successfully represent IPB to seven countries in the world.
Not only becoming the Most Outstanding Student (Mapres) in the General Competence Education Program (PPKU) 2016/2017, Mahtuf was also crowned as the faculty-level Mapres 2017/2018. He was active as the Head of International Editor of the World Forestry Student Association (IFSA), Public Relations in IFSA LC of IPB, and becoming the Forestry Ambassador 2017. Up to now, six of his work (3 journals and 3 proceedings) had been published. He also managed to go overseas for free, thanks to his achievements.
The myriad of the achievements of Mahtuf that had been achieved since entering IPB, namely Essay on National English Competition (NEC) 2017, 2nd Winner of Essay Preneur Competition (ESPRE TION) 2017, 1st Winner of Esai Nasional HMI Fakultas Ekonomi UII Yogyakarta 2017, 1st Winner of the competition of Esai Online “Kontribusi untuk Negeri”, 1st Winner of National Essay Competition of Psychology of Jambi University 2017, ASEAN Bioenergy and Bioeconomy Conference 2017 in Bangkok, KOFPI Young Green Leader Program 2017 in Indonesia, Favorite Presentation in PIMNAS 2017, Speaker in International Conference on Social Science and Humanities (ICSSH) Bali 2017, International Forestry (IFRO) 2017 in German, Runner Up at the “International Youth Symposium on Creative Agriculture (IYSCA) in IPB, Best Presentation and Best Paper in 5th World Conference on Applied Science Engineering and Technology (WCASET) 2017 in Bangkok, Excellent Presentation on ICTCE 2017 in Taiwan 2017, Asian Pacific Forestry Commission (APFC) 2017 in Sri Lanka, Best Paper and Presentation in SECG 2017, and Best Presentation in 14th International Conference on Management, Business, Social, and Huminities Research (MBSHR) 2017 in Hongkong 2017.
“My motivation is my parents. I want to always improve the quality of myself and get a very valuable experience. Other than that, the youth participation in addressing the world’s problems, especially in the field of forestry, is very necessary. In the future, I want to explore more about the forestry, both the forestry in Indonesia and in the world,” he said. Mahtuf aspired to be the Forest Diplomat. In Februrary 2018, Mahtuf as the delegate of IPB at the International Forestry Student’s Symposium in Puebla and would fly to Mexico. (RJ/Zul)
