IPB Has Established Cooperation with PT. Sambu Island

Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) with PT. Pulau Sambu have agreed to establish cooperation. The Signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between IPB with PT. Sambu Island was implemented in the Executive Lounge of IPB Campus, Baranangsiang, Bogor, on 13 January 2018. The special event for the signing of the MoU was attended by a number of experts in IPB. Also present were Director of Cooperation and International Program of IPB, Dr. Edy Hartulistiyoso; and Head of Research Center for Agricultural and Villages Development (PSP3 ) of the Institute of Research and Community Empowerment of IPB (LPPM), Dr. Sofyan Sjaf.

Rector of IPB, Dr. Arif Satria, stated that interaction can bring improvement. "Glad to have the opportunity to collaborate with PT. Sambu Island. The objective of the collaboration  is for the improvement and development.  We don’t want to lose connection what we have with the outside world. In addition, we continue to make improvements, how to develop our curriculum and research program to cater the with market needs. So IPB needs cooperation with various parties, whether private, government, NGO to do joint work, "he said.

According to him, such cooperation is the most suitable program to push and encourage students. Starting a business at university is one of the hardest things students will do, but it’s also the best time in history for young people to set up a business. The MoU has given opportunity for students to have the gift of time, and research facilities on their side. Thus, one day they can become entrepreneurs needed, through the transfer process, apprenticeship process, can be a strategy to stimulate skills.

President Director of PT. Sambu Island, Tay Enoku admitted that he was very happy to meet the IPB communities. On this occasion, he presented his company's profiles and historical background which began in 1967. The company that produces coconut milk is now having more than 18 thousand workers.

"The philosophy of industrial development is to be able to be beneficial for everyone or win win, and win. This is a way to keep the industry sustainable. In order to be sustainable for the such philosophy, we established cooperation with Bogor Agricultural University, "he said. (Wied)
