"Based on the presentation of the performance and discussion, MWA IPB approves the accountability report with the highest appreciation and recommends the elected rector for the period of 2017-2022 to make this proud result and achievement as a baseline and the foothold for IPB policy-making five years ahead, "he said.
In his farewell speech, Prof. Herry congratulated Dr. Arif Satria who has been elected as Rector of IPB to continue struggling in building the better IPB.
"I invite all of you to give the best prayer for the selected Rector of IPB, Dr. Arif Satria, with his wife and their two sons and daughters. We congratulate and pray that Dr. Arif Satria will succeed in carrying out his duties and responsibilities in leading IPB for five years ahead, "he said.
Prof. Herry felt fortunate to have been given a ten-year opportunity to work, serve and jointly promote IPB. During his ten years of leading, Prof. Herry applied transformative leadership pattern oriented to entrepreneurship with servant leadership approach and participatory management.
"Although I intend to apply leadership patterns that prioritize shared vision, proactive, creative, adaptive, encouraging, and calculated-risk takers, but I realized that not all of these can be accomplished. At least we have a true sense of togetherness to advance IPB as a leading university which still prioritizes high quality education with broad access and produces innovations that are useful for our people and our nation, "he said.
Perhaps not all lecturers, administration staff, and students feel comfortable with the leadership pattern. He only hopes that with engagement in daily activities, there will be habits established and lessons learned.
"There is a Japanese saying, tada atama de oboeru no janakute, te de oboeru, karada de oboeteiru. The saying means the hands and the body are as important as the head in learning, I hope this leadership pattern has given the opportunity for the team members to learn to be trained and to be able to read where we are now and where we will go next, "he said.
With this leadership pattern, gradually the team members who are really involved could be well-trained and able to follow and experience the new, different, and better things. In addition, the team members are also expected to see the opportunities, logic and advantages of a different way of thinking.
Many achievements have been obtained by IPB during Prof. Herry's leadership, among others; IPB has successfully gained international accreditation for 24 courses from prestigious international accreditation institutions from America, Europe and Asia; IPB as Innovation Campus which always achieved the highest innovation; IPB has been successfully working with more than 100 foreign universities from 20 countries on five continents; IPB became one of the 100 best universities in the world of QS World University Ranking by Subject i.e. Agriculture and Forestry. In addition, on August 17, 2017, IPB reached the third rank after ITB and UGM in clusterization of PTN Indonesia held by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti) of Republic of Indonesia.

CPR IPB is a fruit of thought and dream prepared together by considering input from all academic community of IPB and stakeholders. In addition, the accreditation of IPB based on BAN-PT has obtained the final score of 376 or Accreditation A. This value is the best achievement of IPB.
"I am fully aware that in holding the mandate, I have not been able to provide the best for all academic community and IPB community. On this good occasion, on my behalf personally and family, apologize with all humility for any shortcomings and oversight. I also apologize to the whole IPB community if there are mistakes, shortcomings or unfulfilled expectations during my lead. It is an honor in my life to serve IPB. I do not want to stop serving (as a lecturer) for the rest of my devotion time in IPB," Prof. Herry concluded in his last speech as Rector of IPB. (TK)
