The Signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between IPB and East Sumba Regency

Rector of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Prof. Dr. Herry Suhardiyanto, and Regent represented by the Regional Secretary of East Sumba, Drs. Ir. Juspan, M.Si, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Minutes between IPB and East Sumba Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, on Friday, 22 Septmber 2017. Then, followed by signing  cooperation agreement by the Head of The Institute of Research and Community Empowerment of IPB (LPPM IPB), Dr. Prastowo, and East Sumba Regional Secretary Drs. Ir. Juspan, M.Si. The signing was held at Andi Hakim Nasoetion Building, Dramaga IPB Campus, Bogor.

Rector of IPB, Prof. Dr. Herry Suhardiyanto stated that the cooperation should be implemented considering the agenda of IPB 2017-2018 is the mainstream of agriculture, so IPB must be present to provide benefits for all Indonesian people by spreading innovations.

Earlier, East Sumba Regional Secretary Drs. Ir. Juspan, M. Si, stated that the East Sumba region is the center of banana production. However, the outburst of banana pests hampered banana production and reduced the income of farmers. "It seems that the  grasshopper attacks agricultural plants annually. Billions of grasshoppers chewing on the leaves of coconut and bamboo trees, and more eating the grass beneath it. They reduce agricultural productivity and disturbing residents, "he said.

Other special guests attended the MoU amng others were the Speaker of East Sumba DPRD, drh. Palulu P. Ndima, M. Si. (Wied)
