Student of IPB Introduced Child Education on Environment Sensitivity

The student of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) won third prize in National Essay Week (Pena) held by Study Group of The Green Scientist Society, Faculty of Education, Semarang State University. The theme of event held at the end of the year 2016, was on "Kontribusi Pemuda dan Pendidikan dalam Pembangunan Berkelanjutan menuju Indonesia Mandiri 2025 = Youth and Education Contribution in Sustainable Development towards Indonesia Mandiri 2025". A total of nine representatives from some universities competed through ideas in the essay.

The topic of Representative of IPB, Muhammad Aldy Ilham Pratama, was on Education. His essay was on "Pendidikan Usia Dini bagi Anak-anak dari Keluarga dengan Ekonomi Lemah = Early Childhood Education for Children from Low Income Families". For Unique method initiated by him is the utilizing the saung or small hut facilities for social gathering of the community.

He said the education provided through saung is early childhood education and is flexible. Learners are not tightly bound to the schedule, because the activity they present is as a spare time for children who have not attended elementary school yet. His essay was based on the existed data which inform that a lot of early childhood children are actually directed by their parents to help them rather than going to school to learn new things.

Case study designed by students of Faculty of Human Ecology of Bogor Agricultural University (FEM IPB) refers to the data avaialble in the Greater Jakarta area. "When I found out the data, I think that we have the advantage in terms of facilities and science, that we should share and assist people outside who need our help," he said.

The next plan of his essay, he planned to translate it into a genuine community service program. The system has been designed to run the program, including the teacher recruitment system, upgrading system, and other support systems. (Wied)
