Students of IPB Initiated “Tamasya Yuk Darling”
Kampung Cilubang, Sukadamai Village seemed to be still far from the word of the healthy environment. Everyday, the resident threw the garbage by burning it and being dumped to the river bank. Now, the resident did not enjoy the flow of the river again, because the body of the river had been half piled by various kinds of garbages. The condition of the garbage which was mounting and full with unhealthy smoke that was billowing the burning result was exacerbated by the inaccessibility of the garbage transportation vehicle from the Office of Sanitation of Bogor. How was the welfare condition of the resident? It was predictable, of course they experienced the high level of the stress with the dirty environment and propagated to other things.
Departing from the cleanliness problems encountered, the students of IPB through PKM of Community Services initiated the program of Tamasya Yuk Darling for the residents of Kampung Cilubang. Tamasya Yuk Darling was started from a desire for the residents to be environmentally conscious through various approaches beginning in March 2017. Starting from the socialization to the program implementation, the students and the supervisors routinely did the program two to once a week. This program was fronted by Wawan Budi Hantoko, Cindra May Ningrum, Duwi Apriyani, Pandu Arfendo Pratama, and Ismail Abdullah.
The program was initiated among others Si Berlin (Aksi Bersih Lingkungan / Clean Environmental Action), and together with the team of PKMM, the residents enthusiastically participated in a clean environmental program implemented on a holiday. The program of Si Berlin was supported with one of the other programs named Sinar Mentari which contained a movie playback session about the environment to attract the attention of the children and adolescents in Kampung Cilubang. The interrelated programs aimed to enable the activities to be on an ongoing basis.
The program was also implemented for handling the physical waste through the bank system of the garbages. The residents were interested in recycling their wastes in order to be converted into the cash while contributing to the social savings of Kampung Cilubang. Not finished with the garbage bank, the Team of PKMM also invited the residents to learn how to manufacture the crafts from the used goods. It had been done once that was the craft training held in Bandung. The managing residents could use the techniques to learn to convert the waste of the used goods into a valuable item. The management needs of the garbage bank and also among others the human resource needs were printed through the process of the regeneration from the team to the residents.
The environmental programs that had been implemented were coupled with the stress reduction program through the activities with the residents. Every Sunday morning, the residents of Kampung Cilubang now enjoyed the morning gymnastic program on the available land. This gymnastic activity was able to gather the residents and to give the effect to the healthy living with the exercise and the stress relief. The improvements of the facilities were done to support it, the unused land of the residents were now used as the gymnastics, if it was the morning and also repaired for the children’s play area. Who would have thought the former land of the buildings now looking attractive with the colorful floors of the snakes ladders that were loved by the children.
Another anti-stress social program was initiated for the residents of Kampung Cilubang, and also there were the provision of the seeds and the waste bins, the hydroponic plant training for the residents, the training on the attaintment marketing, and the excursion. This excursion was conducted by visiting the houses of the residents to chat and attract the attention of the residents of the existing programs to increase the participation. The activity of the PKMM Tamasya Yuk Darling was closed with the agenda of the exhibition as the highlight of the event.
Currently, the residents independently did the morning gymnastics and managed the garbage bank. The garbage transportation car would now access Kampung Cilubang after various processes were done to make it happen. Through this PKMM Tamasya Yuk Darling proved that the role of youth was still awaited by the surrounding community. Simple but targeted programs were the keys, the residents were waiting for the students to go to the villages. Although the challenges should be passed by Wawan and the team.
