A Small House but Want It Beautiful? Use PoQua, an Innovation of IPB Student
The increasingly smaller housing space or yard, especially in apartments and minimalist housing, inspires people to make various breakthroughs in the green open space. Generally, plants are grown in pots and fish in an aquarium. Here, pots and ornamental fish are combined into one container, the newest innovation to enjoy the beauty of ornamental plants and fish.
The latest growing trend is aquascape, a combination of diverse aquariums with aquatic plants and ornamental fish. However, it has a high degree of difficulty and requires patience from its owners. A separate maintenance of pots and aquarium is less effective and less unique to beautify the space.
A group of students of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Bogor Agricultural University (FPIK IPB) in the Entrepreneurship Student Creativity Program (Team PKM-K) chaired by Ahmad Yazid Latif, consisting Lalili Fajar IH, Seif Rahmatika J, M. Iqbal and Fakhri Kurniawan, succeeded in making a PoQua innovation.
"This inspiration arises from the desire to combine ornamental plants and ornamental fish in a container to decorate the room. PoQua can reduce the level of people’s stress, especially office workers and decorate the room as well," he said.
PoQua is a combination of a pot and an aquarium for those who want to make an efficient use space for an aquarium and pot. It is a solution to the densely populated settlements that still want to grow ornamental plants and fish, but only have a small or narrow space. In addition, this product can be used for those who want to grow ornamental plants and fish in the house, without having to expose them to the sun by using a special lighting.
According to Laili, "Our target is the communities with a high level of stress. In making the product, we design the shape of the aquarium and the pot and put the pot in the center of the aquarium," he explained. PoQua products are marketed at a price from Rp 150 thousand to Rp 250 thousand per unit depending on the size and shape. They hope in the future that PoQua can be marketed internationally. (Mtd)
