Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) of Long Term Development Plan (RPJP) of 2018-2045 on Tuesday (9/5) at IPB International Convention Center (IICC), Bogor. It is a reference for all internal elements of IPB in formulating work programs, educational activities, and performance targets to achieve well each year.
Rector of IPB, Prof. Dr. Herry Suhardiyanto said RPJP 2018-2045 should benefit all stakeholders in building a network of cooperation for the advancement of IPB both at national and international level. The IPB Plan 2045 is prepared among others for strategies in improving better qality education, including preparing a strong generation having a lot of achievement. IPB must produce graduates who are competent and responsive to the problems faced by society, business, and government and can compete globally.
Rector added that IPB graduates should be part of reliable and caring resources in building the country and nation of Indonesia. For that purpose, IPB must design an academic program that makes students of IPB not merely involve in the learning process, but also competent in their field, and able to interact with all parties. This is IPB's contribution to the preparation of human resources who are likely to win the competition in the future.
RPJP-IPB 2018-2045 was presented by Chairman of RPJP–IPB 2018-2045 Preparation Team, Prof. Dr. Hermanto Siregar. He said that the RPJP–IPB 2018-2045 plays an important role in the development of human resources and science and technology, graduates who are compotent in their field, responsive to the problems around them, and able to compete globally. IPB also plays a role in community empowerment in the development of strategic environment such as national and global development trends, reform of higher education system, and agricultural revitalization. IPB in its vision (2018-2045) with the target of a century of independent Indonesia is the foremost in strengthening the dignity of the nation through excellent higher education at the global level in agriculture, marine, and tropical bioscience. With this vision, IPB must prepare itself not only as a leading university in Indonesia but also into the world's leading group. The spirit to realize the vision is that of a research-based university.
In the discussion session by Director of PT. Kharisma Pemasaran Bersama Nusantara (KPBN), Ir. Iriana Eka Sari said RPJP-IPB 2018-2045 viewed by the outside parties that this nation expects a lot from IPB. "This reflects when there are issues or problems of agriculture and food, they certainly ask IPB to find solutions to the problems as it is an institution mandated by the state to build agriculture in a broad sense in Indonesia," she said.
Se said IPB has shown its popularity in the development of science, technology and art (IPTEKS). However, such success should not be a romantic past of IPB. In the future, IPB needs to be a true center of excellence characterized by, among others, the presence of infrastructure to engage in various types of science and technology and information on agriculture, marine, and tropical bioscience. "So RPJP-IPB 2018-2045 belongs to the nation of Indonesia, IPB alumni, and stakeholders," she said. (Mtd)
