LPPM-IPB Holds a Training on Hygienic Processed Products
To improve the health and hygiene of processed food products in the small and medium enterprises (SMEs), Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) held a training on the hygienic aspect of the processed foods, Wednesday (12/4), in the village office of Purwasari, Dramaga District, Bogor Regency. The training was attended by 15 SMEs of Purwasari village, involving those processing banana chips, cassava, rengginang, leupeut and wet food.
Organizing committee, Warcito, SP, MM of the Human Resources Development Center (P2SDM) of LPPM-IPB said this training will be regularly held before the Friday Tours (Jumling) of IPB in 2017 in 17 villages around the campus. Thus, he explained, later in IPB Jumling, SMEs will receive a certificate and can display their processed products through a bazaar.
"The advantage for the business players is to increase knowledge of how to process products more hygienically so that the food products would become healthy and its hygiene assured," he said.
The presenter of the training materials is Bogor City Health Department, Nunik Negrahani, AmKg. She said that the concept of hygiene according to the Health Department is the effort of the individual to preserve and protect his or her cleanliness, for example, washing hands, keeping clean fingers, nails, hair, eyes and mouth. Further, the materials and equipment to be used should be clean and hygienic.
"Most important for the business players in producing food is they are given the motivation to do good things for others by producing healthy, clean, and profitable food," she added. (Mtd)
