Joint Cooperation Between IPB and Performax to Implement Agrinex Expo ke-11
Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB Bogor Agricultural University) in collaboration with Performax held Agrinex Expo 11, on 31 March – 2 April 2017, at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC). The Agrinex Expo 11 was officially opened by Rector of IPB, Prof. Dr. Herry Suhardiyanto. The objective of having such national event were to promote and unite all stakeholders to have similar understanding, namely local foods to feed our own people and growing world population.
Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Ir. Rifda Ammarina, said Agrinex Expo 11 is struggling Agrinex, as in addition to be the agribusiness expo, the Agrinex Expo 11 was also the educational and promotional event featuring Indonesian agribusiness and to unify sense of optimism in the agribusiness sector for the advancement of Indonesia.
Rifda stated that this year the theme for the Expo was "Food for All Seasons". It was chosen as to express the expectation all agricultural stakeholders of Indonesia to translate their awareness into political will and effective action to render the system better prepared to respond to long-term demand growth and more resilient against various risk factors that confront world agriculture, and to ensure that the growing world population will be able to produce and have access to adequate food today and in future
"By organizing Agrinex, we hope we will be able to establish cooperation of all to ensure that we will be able to produce and have access to adequate food today and in future. Agrinex is pushing the agribusiness industry in Indonesia to become masters in their own country, "said Rifda.
Yet, Rector of IPB stated that Agrinex Expo 11 was our vehicle for interaction for all the stakeholders to exchange information, promotion, cooperation and experience developing and implementing innovations. He said that the our agribusiness actors are facing greater challenges in the utilization of science and technology to improve the productivity of natural and human resources. On the other hand, consumers are increasingly aware of the importance of high-quality food products and safe at affordable prices. To answer these challenges, agribusiness must be supported by competent human resources, innovative technology, and a strong institutional.
Further, he affirmed that the agribusiness system we have developed will continually utilize the innovation resulted by our Research and Development Program for efficiency and to reduce costs and improve quality. In this connection, our university will need to adapt and respond to these fundamental changes. To strengthen the competitiveness of the agribusiness system and cope to look for the breakthrough based on our strength and uniqueness of local resources. This requires a new approach, a large group and the hard work of all stakeholders.
There were 180 booths and 200 participating exhibitors for Agrinex Expo 11. They were from various institutional backgrounds, such as the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Agricultural and Spatial Planning, Ministry of Public Works, the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, the Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Health, the Partnership Program and Community Development, state, provincial agencies in Indonesia, private (companies), to the regional administration. Agrinex also presented Expo 2017, Talkshow, Focus Group Discussion (FGD), Agribusiness Class, Cooking Class, commodity clusters, and others. (Wied)
