Ten Mediators of CARE of LPPM IPB Are Ready to Practices Their Skills for Peace-Building Programs in Indonesia
Center for Alternative Dispute Resolution, Regulation and policy (CARE) of the Institute of Research and Community Empowerment of IPB (Bogor Agricultural University) currently has 10 Certified Mediators. They were awarded or licenced as Mediators after the group-10 of researchers / associate Researcher of CARE of LPPM IPB have successfully passed the assessment tests as Mediators in the Community Mediation Center (Center for Mediation EDU) Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on 14 February 2017. Community Mediation Center Putrajaya is Malaysia's leading Mediation Center under the auspices of Department of National Unity and Integration / JPNIN (Department of National Unity and Integration / Prime Minister Department), Prime Minister’ Department of Royal Malaysian. The group-10 had previously attended Mediation Training Course for 40 hours led by Training Team of Putrajaya Community Mediation Center. Certificates as Mediators had been symbolically handed over to mediators CARE 10 LPPM located in Building JPNIN in Putrajaya, on 15 February 2017.
The group ten who had been awarded or currently licensed as Mediators are Prof. Dr. Sumardjo, Dr. Dahri, Dr. Yeti Lis Purnamadewi, Prof. Dr. Parulian Hutagaol, Ir. Agit Kriswantriyono MSi, Leonard Darmawan, SP. MSi, Adi Firmansyah, Puspadewi Yulia Wulandari, DVM. Rahmat Hidayat, MSI, and Drs. Mahendra Kusuma, MM.
Team Leader and Assessors of Putrajaya Community Mediation Center, Prof. Naaishah Siti Hambali, said that those ten applicants were trained for 40 hours and undertook evaluation tests to get the their licences as Mediators. Furthermore, former judge of the Court of Malaysia expected after having been licenced as Mediators they would apply their experiences and practice their skills to assist the Indonesian government for Peace-Building and for creating a secure and productive environment for its economic development.
The Head of CARE of LPPM IPB, Prof. Dr. Sumardjo, acknowledged and expressed his sincere thanks for the Team and Assessors of Putrajaya Community Mediation Center led by Prof. Naaishah Siti Hambali for the successful training program. Furthermore, the Professor Chair-Holder in the Faculty of Human Ecology (FEMA) of IPB expressed his sense of pride as the group 10 he led to Putrajaya CARE successfully passed all the tests with good results. In line with the expectations Prof Siti Naaishah, Chairman of the National Education Commission also hopes that those 10 Mediators will contribute to mediate the conflicts to the city of Bogor, West Java, as well as in the national and international levels. Prof. Sumardjo said that the challenge of solving the conflict in Indonesia is actually higher than in Malaysia, as we have higher coverage and the intensity of conflicts and our total number of Mediators are still limited.
