IPB Developed the Cooperation with Banyuasin District

Rector of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Prof. Dr. Herry Suhardiyanto, and Vice Regent of Banyuasin, S.A. Supriono, MM signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Local Government of Banyuasin District, South Sumatra, Friday (17/2), in the Rectorate Building of Andi Hakim Nasoetion, Campus of IPB Darmaga, Bogor. On the same occasion, it was conducted the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) by the Head of the Institute for Research and Community Services (LPPM) of IPB, Dr. Prastowo, and the Head of Bappeda and Research and Development of Banyuasin District, Ir. Zulkiflidrus, MTP. In this occasion, it was agreed that the cooperation in the development of the agroforestry, the livestock, the conservation villages, and the agricultural product.

The Rector of IPB said, IPB had presented the innovations of the research result, the technology development and the policy formulation to establish the optimum and modern agribusiness model in order to realize the strong national production system. The role of IPB in generating the innovation was more evident, and the reputation of IPB was getting better in the national and international arena. Therefore, he explained, this innovation result was expected to be applied in Banyuasin District.

“IPB will help to manage Banyuasin District by bringing in the lecturers and the researchers who are competent in their fields, so that it can help to realize the improvement and the development of the agricultural sector development which can improve the welfare of the farmers in Banyuasin District,” he explained.

The Rector added, Banyuasin District could also cooperate in the educational field through the path of the Beasiswa Utusan Daerah / Regional Representative Scholarship (BUD). This BUD program was a reception of the students of graduate and postgraduate programs of IPB recommended and financed by the central government, the local government, the private company or the institution, which if passed it was expected to return to the area to build the region.

While the Vice Regent of Banyuasin said that an honor of the party to be given a chance to cooperate with IPB to improve and develop the agricultural sector to realize the national food security. According to him, the agricultural development could not be separated from the development of the rural area that put the agriculture as the main diving force of the economy, so from that Banyuasin District hoped that IPB could help to realize that.
