CARE of LPPM of IPB Pioneered the Cooperation with JPNIN Malaysia

In order the brainstorming, the assessment and the comparative study of the implementation of the mediation, the Center for Conflict Resolution and Empowerment (CARE) of the Institute of Research and Community Services (LPPM) of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) conducted a working visit to Malaysia (13-17/2). One of the institutions visited was Jabatan Perpaduan Negara dan Integrasi Nasional/JPNIN (Department of National Unity and Integration/Prime Minister Department) of Kerajaan Malaysia. This institution was the institution being the umbrella of Pusat Mediasi Komuniti Putrajaya. This visit was also conducted in order to pioneer the cooperation which had previously initiated through the training and assessment of the  mediators by Pusat Mediasi Komuniti Putra Jaya. In this visit, the team of CARE of IPB amounting of 10 people were led by the Head of CARE of LPPM of IPB, Prof.Dr. Sumardjo and received by Tuan Baharin Bin Idris as the Acting Chairman of the Steering of JPNIN.

The Acting Chairman of the Steering of JPNIN expressed his appreciation toward CARE of LPPM of IPB and Pusat Mediasi Komuniti Putra Jaya – Malaysia led by Prof.Dr. Siti Naaishah Hambali having initiated the cooperation. It was also delivered that JPNIN had produced more than a thousand of the mediators in Malaysia especially in Tingkat Majelis Perhimpunan Rukun Tetangga. JPNIN was ready to partner with CARE of LPPM of IPB in helping the mediation development in Indonesia.

Several things achieved from this activity were the agreements from both sides to conduct the further cooperations in the implementation of the seminar, the training, the joint research, the publication and the socialization of mediation in the conflict resolution. Henceforth, the two sides also agreed to make the Memorandum of Undertanding (MoU) to umbrella the various cooperations which would be implemented. The Acting Chairman of the Steering of JPNIN as well as the Chairman of Pusat Mediasi Komuniti, Tuan Zulkifli Hashim, conveyed the exposure of the experience and the community integration programs which had been and would be developed  in Malaysia. At the end of the meeting, it was conducted the handover of the certificates to 10 mediators of CARE of LPPM of IPB which had passed the training and assessment conducted by Pusat Mediasi Komuniti Putrajaya.***
