Biopharmaca Research Center (PSB), Institute for Research and Community Services – Bogor Agricultural University (LPPM-IPB) which was founded since 1998 had engaged in the activities related to biopharmaca for 17 years, and had many achievements that had been etched. One of the achievements was including to become one of the National Science and Technology Superior Center. Hereinafter, in order to develop its progress to biopharmaca which was the national and international reputation of PSB changed the name into the Tropical Biopharmaca Research Center (Trop BRC). Launching the Trop BRC was held in IPB International Convention Center, Bogor, Monday (5/9).
The Head of Trop BRC of LPPM of IPB, Dr. Irmanida Batubara, conveyed the progress and the success of the institution she led in cooperation with the stakeholders. She said, the collaborations had contributed greatly to the development of the Trop BRC.
In the same place, the Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs of IPB, Prof. Dr. Yonny Koesmaryono, said that the Trop BRC with its competence played its role to accelerate the tropical herbal medicine which was focused on the development of the health Science and Technology of the biopharmaca of multi and interdisciplinary, and it could become the center for herbal medicine superior study which had the national and international reputation.
Meanwhile, the Assistant Deputy of Crops and Horticulture, the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs of Republic of Indonesia, Dr. Wilistra Danny, said that the main key of the development of the biopharmaca was the innovation and the technology. According to him, the existence of the Trop BRC was the strategic momentum, and it required the government intervention.
The Chairman of Association of Indonesian Herbal and Traditional Medicine (GP Jamu), Dwi Ranny Pertiwi Zarman, conveyed that the support toward the Trop BRC which was judged to be able to develop the herbal industry.
On this occasion, it was awarded to Prof.Dr. Latifah K. Darusman as the founder and the Head of PSB 1998-2014 period, also to Prof.Dr.drh. Toni Ungerer (alm), Prof.drh. Dondin Sajuthi, Prof.Dr. Suminar Setiati Achmadi, and Prof.Dr. Dudung Darusman. The next award was given to the Secretaries of the Centers, namely Dr. Yulin Lestari, Dr.dr. Irma H. Suparto, MS, Prof.Dr. Dyah Iswantini P, Dr. Irmanida Batubara, and Drs. Edy Djauhary Purwakusumah (alm).***(dh)
