Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK) of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) and the Center for Coastal and Marine Resource Studies (PKSPL) of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of IPB held “Ocean Leaders Forum and IPB Sailing 2016," on Thursday (28/1) on 593 KRI Banda Aceh. This event involved 456 people consisting of the rectors who are members of the Council of the Rector of Indonesian State University (MRPTNI), deans and leaders of marine and fisheries universities in Indonesia, IPB officials and the Navy, as well as stakeholders.
 
This event began with the signing of the MoU by the Chief of the Indonesian Navy Staff, Admiral Ade Supandi and MRPTNI Chairman, who is also IPB Rector, Prof. Dr. Herry Suhardiyanto. Both institutions agreed to cooperate in education, research and community service related to maritime.
 
Chief of RI Naval Staff, Admiral Ade Supandi said, cooperation with universities is the main capital to improve maritime synergy. According to him, the field of maritime can be supported from the seven focused areas, namely energy, transport, materials, health, medicine, food and defense. "So to accelerate the realization of the target of marine research and development, the implementation is carried out with the cooperation concept that involves the elements of academicians, business and government," he said.
 
IPB Rector, Prof. Dr. Suhardiyanto Herry said, IPB is a college which has advantages in science and technology based on natural resources, including marine and fisheries.
 
Earlier, Committee Chairman, Dr. Luky Adrianto, who is also Dean of FPIK-IPB expressed his gratitude to the big family of the Indonesian Navy for allowing IPB to sail. The series of these activities include IPB Leaders Meeting, MRPTNI Forum, Maritime Business Forum, Dean Forum of Indonesian Marine and Fisheries Universities, as well as the Youth Maritime Student Forum.
