One of the scholarship donors for Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Toyota and Astra Foundation, held a general lecture  attended by those receiving the scholarships and IPB students, Tuesday (2/12). The lecture with the theme "Students Looking to the Future: Towards a World Class Engineer" took place in the Auditorium of Andi Hakim Nasution, Dramaga campus, Bogor.
 
This activity presents a Director of PT. Toyota Motor Manifacturing Indonesia, Ir. Made Dana Tangkas, MSi, as a speaker. He said that this event is a concern of Toyota on education in Indonesia."
 
In this morning general lecture, we talked about the future of the students to be world-class engineers. It’s easy to say, but It needs more effort in order to make it happen, not to lose on the world stage and especially in facing the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC)," he explained.
 
Further Ir. Made said that with AEC, there will be a free flow (free blow up) which includes many things such as information, energy to employment. "It is a challenge we need to prepare so that we can compete and excel in the AEC," he added.
 
We hope we as an industry can go along and in line to build the education and professionalism for the human resource development of the country," he said.
 
This activity was also attended by IPB Rector, Prof. Dr. Herry Suhardiyanto. In his speech he expressed gratitude to Toyota and Astra Foundation, which has been the donor of scholarships for IPB students. "On behalf of IPB I would like to thank you. Hopefully the scholarship will really encourage the students to complete their studies on time," said the rector.
 
Further, Rector hope such cooperation could be enhanced in the future, especially for the development of agricultural machinery. "I think Toyota is very open to cooperate on research and practical work in the field so that students can have the opportunity to improve their competency," said Rector.
 
Rector also said that IPB continues to innovate primarily in the food sector. One innovation that has been going on is IPB Prima where one important point is agricultural mechanization. With this, agriculture is expected to be more effective and efficient.
 
On this occasion there was also a submission of educational equipment, namely two engines of Toyota Innova and scholarships. As recorded since 1976, Toyota and Astra Foundation has become a sponsor of scholarships in IPB. Currently as many as 617 IPB students receive scholarships from the foundation.
 
Also present at this activity was the inventor of Fastrex, an engine for oil palm transporter in peat area, Dr. Desrial. Fastrex is listed as one of the most prospective innovations according to the Ministry of Research and Technology. (Mtd)
