IPB Holds Workshop on Quality Standards of Student Affairs

Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) held a Workshop on Quality Standard of Student Affairs to strengthen the system of higher education quality assurance, Tuesday (13/10) at Darmaga Campus of IPB. The workshop, organized by the Quality Management Office (KMM) and Directorate of Student Affairs (Ditmawa), was attended by deans, vice-deans, heads and secretaries of the departments, heads of offices and directors of the work units in IPB.
 
In his speech, Institute Secretary of IPB, Dr. Ir. Ibnul Qayim said it is necessary to develop guidelines on standards of interest, talents, reasoning, welfare, character development, and student activities. "This workshop is important because student activity is our core. Preparation of quality standards is made for the convenience for all of us. Hopefully, today’s activity contributes significantly to IPB," said Dr. Qayim.
 
According to Head of KMM-IPB, Dr. Ir Fredinan Yulianda, M.Sc, the student quality standard is derived from the already existing IPB quality standards. "It is not separate from the quality standards of the University. However, as part of efforts to improve the process of achieving quality standards, especially for the student affairs. It complies with the legislation mandate that such standards are an important indicator in the assessment of IPB quality standards," explains Dr. Fredinan.
 
In the same occasion, Director of Student Affairs, Dr. Ir. Sugeng Santoso, M.Agr said, in fact so far student quality standards have been implemented. "But we have not made them in a document that becomes the benchmark for assessing the success of student guidance," explains Dr. Sugeng.
 
At this workshop, the student standards are divided into four major aspects, namely: interests, talents and reasoning, student welfare, and mobility as well as development of character and life skills. (Mtd)
