CARE of LPPM IPB Studied the Deradicalization Efforts of Separatist Group in the Conflict Areas in indonesia

Center for Alternative Dispute Resolution, Regulation and policy (CARE) of the Institute of Research and Community Empowerment of IPB (LPPM), organized the  national seminar on "Mengintegrasikan Pendekatan dengan Upaya Deradikalisasi Kelompok Separatis di Wilayah Konflik di Indonesia (Integrating Approaches to attempt the Deradicalisation of the Separatist Groups in the Conflict Areas in Indonesia)". This activity was held on Tuesday, 13 October 2015, at IPB International Convention Center (IICC), Bogor.
 
Chairman of CARE of LPPM IPB, Prof.Dr. Sumardjo,  in his opening remarks said, the process of deradicalization of the conflict areas had been carried out. But many parties considered that the process unable to turn off the radical movement, and reduce the radical ideology of certain social groups. CARE of LPPM IPB in the last decade has studied  the phenomenon of deradicalization utilizing the community-based action research method. The objectives of the seminar were to formulate the integrated alternative approaches for empowerment efforts of the deradicalization, through the identification of root causes of terrorism and violent radicalism, mapping cause of conflicts and effect radicalism, and formulate a humanistic approach to deradicalizing them. 
 
Further he stated that deradicalization we mean a change in people’s attitudes and beliefs entailed in radicalism into tender, tolerant, pluralistic, moderate and liberal. This concerns the gap in competence and professionalism among society causing gaps in power filter, power sanding and competitiveness among layers of the society. This case pertaining to the gap in the competency and professionalism between the communities. 
 
Deputy Head for the Community Service LPPM IPB, Dr. Hartayo, expressed that  the  seminar was very important as efforts to contribute ideas to improve and maintain the integrity of the Unitary Republic of Indonesia.
 
The Organizing Committee invited the Deputy III of the Badan Intelijen Negara (BIN State Intelligence Agency), Mr. Troesto Purnomo WS, SH, MPM; Regional and Multilateral Cooperation Director of National Agency for Combating Terrorism, Mr. Herry Sudradjat SH; Director General for the Development of Specific Areas of the Ministry of Rural, of Rural Development and Transmigration, Dr Suprayoga Hadi; as well as from fculty members of the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, namely Prof. Dr. Siti Naaishah Hambali, Prof. Nazura Madya Dr Abdul Manap.
