Biological diversity or usually shortened into biodiversity continues to evolve from decade to decade. The most current trend on biodiversity will be utilized as the basis for the conserve and rehabilitate our ecosystems in a sustainable manner. To respond any questions on this regard, the Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences – Bogor Agricultural University (FMIPA-IPB) organized an international seminar on International Conference on Biosciences (ICoBio) 2015, held on  5-7 August 2015, at the IPB International Convention Centre, Bogor. The theme of the seminar was "appreciating Unity in Diversity".

The objectives of the seminar were to share and exchange of information on biosciences in general, as well as to establish networks between scientists and students in the biosciences locally or internationally. About 200 both scientists and students  participated in this workshop. They came from Indonesia, Kenya, Japan, Malaysia, India, Pakistan, Germany, and Thailand.

Itineraries of the International Seminar were plenty, but the primary activity planned was the Plenary session where scientist both from Indonesia and abroad presented their biosciences presentations. In addition, during which poster presentations were also presented. Especially for this occasion the new method of poster presentation was also introduced. Such system was relatively for Indonesia, as the presenters were given opportunity to present their posters orally to the participants.

In addition to the scientific events, other activities were planned that include the signing a memorandum of agreement (MoA) between the FMIPA-IPB with the Faculty of Sciences of Kasetsart University (KU) Thailand. The signing of MoU between those two universities was the first step for future cooperation in education and research programs between KU and IPB, especially in the Department of Biological of FMIPA-IPB and Faculty of Science KU. Included in the MoU were the student and staff exchange program,  research collaboration, joint supervision and credit earning. The initial program will start immediately on 2015-2017, and will be followed by the exploratory of dual degree and joint degree programs.

At the end of the seminar, on 6th August 2015, the best three poster were presenters announced. The following day, on 7th August 2015 some participants were given opportunity to have the city tour to Taman Mini Indonesia Indah.

In addition to the core activities held at  IPBICC, the OC was also planned other  activities, namely: 1. "One day lecture on Bioinformatics by Prof. Rolf Daniel of Georg-August-Universität, Göttingen, Germany"; 2. The small-symposium on "Symposium on Bogor Agricultural University (Indonesia) – Nara Institute of Science and Technology (Japan) Graduate Student Exchange program". Both activities  were carried out on 4th August 2015, at the Dramaga Campus. They were organized jointly by the Department of Biology, Biotechnology Program of School the Graduate Study and FMIPA-IPB.
