Declaration of IPB as Green Campus at the Opening of IPB’s 52nd Anniversary
The opening of Bogor Agricultural University’s (IPB) 52nd Anniversary is marked by the declaration of a Green Campus by IPB Rector, Prof. Dr. Herry Suhardiyanto, Tuesday (1/9), on Dramaga campus. This was attended by a 7423 new students of multi-levels involving Diploma Educational Programs, Bachelor Programs, Continuation Programs and Graduate Programs.
In his speech, Rector said, "In order to realize an environmentally friendly campus, IPB continues doing the arrangement especially in terms of transportation on campus. Green transportation is implemented for five reasons, namely the use of bicycles, electric cars, gas-fueled bus, as well as freeing a certain area from motorcycles and cars ".
Related to the use of motor vehicles in campus, parking lots will be set up, namely on the parking area of Graha Widya Wisuda (GWW), of Green TV and of Student Regiment Post. As an alternative, IPB provides mass transportation such as electric cars and buses that will serve the needs of IPB community consisting five corridors. This green transportation program officially started on 1 September 2015 as the preparation stage and will be implemented starting on October 1, 2015.
On this occasion, Rector also congratulated IPB’s new students of all degree programs accepted in the academic year 2015/2016. "Congratulations to the new students, welcome to the people campus, and an innovation campus. This campus was established with a noble vision. Therefore, let us affirm our intention and spirit so that you can complete the task of learning as well as possible," said Rector.
"Congratulations for the admission of the new students, happy birthday to IPB, IPB long life," said Rector closing his speech. In order to enliven the 52nd anniversary of IPB, a number of various activities are staged involving the whole community of IPB, such as campus festival, the archipelago culture, animal day, national seminar, healthy walk, contemplation concert, scientific papers and other activities.
